Zero Discrimination Day- 01st March

It is an annual day celebrated on 1st March every year by the UN and other International Organizations. It aims to promote equality before the law and in practice throughout all of the member countries of the UN. The day was first celebrated on 01st March 2014 and was launched by UNAIDS Executive Director Michel Sidibe. The theme of Zero Discrimination Day for the year 2023 is “Save lives: Decriminalise.

World Civil Defence Day – 01st March

World Civil Defence Day is annually observed across the globe on 1st March to honor the significance of Civil Defence and the personnel who have sacrificed their lives for it. The purpose of the Day is to promote public awareness about civil defense, civil protection, and emergency management in order to better prepare the civilian population to protect itself in the event of an emergency and to reduce the risk of disaster. More people are encouraged to learn about safety precautions and the protective skills they would require in the event of any type of emergency, whether it be man-made or natural.

Self Injury Awareness Day – 01st March

Self-Injury Awareness Day (SIAD) is a global event held annually on March 1. Its purpose is to remove the stigma attached to self-injury and to encourage parents, family members, educators, and healthcare professionals to recognize the signs of self-harm. The international day is also dedicated to learning about self-harming behaviors like self-cutting, burning, scratching, biting, and other intentional methods of self-injury. The annual day also works towards removing the stigma attached to self-injury.

World Wildlife Day- 03rd March

UN proclaimed 03rd March as the day of signature of the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in 1973- as UN World Wildlife Day to celebrate and raise awareness of the world’s wild animals and plants. The commemoration was proposed by Thailand to celebrate and raise awareness of the world’s wild fauna and flora. This year World Wildlife Day is celebrated under the theme “Partnerships for Wildlife Conservation“.  

World Hearing Day – 03rd March

World Hearing Day is a campaign held each year by the Office of Prevention of Blindness and Deafness of the World Health Organization. Activities take place across the globe and an event is hosted at the World Health Organization on March 3.

National Safety Day/Week is celebrated on 04th March every year on a national level all over the country to aware people of safety including the various health and environmental movements. Through this campaign, need-based activities, self-observance with legal requisites, and professional SHE (safety, health, and environmental) activities are encouraged among staff at the workplace. World Kidney Day- 10th March

March is National Kidney Month, and 09th March is World Kidney Day. World Kidney Day is a global campaign to raise awareness of the importance of our kidneys to overall health and to reduce the frequency and impact of kidney disease and associated health problems worldwide. Pi Day is the annual day celebration of a mathematical constant Pi. The pi was first calculated by Archimedes of Syracuse, who lived from 287-212 BC. It was founded in 1988 by physicist Larry Shaw. The United States House of Representatives supported the designation of Pi-Day and celebrated the World’s 1st Pi Day on 14th March 2009.

International Day of Action for Rivers is celebrated on 14th March every year dedicated to saving, celebrating, and creating awareness about the importance of rivers. This year 26th Anniversary of the International Day of Action for Rivers is celebrated around the world.

World Consumer Right Day- 15th March

World Consumer Day is observed annually on 15th March to protect the rights of consumers. This day was inspired by former US president John F Kennedy when he gave a message about consumer rights while speaking at the US Congress on 15th  March 1962. This year the theme for World Consumer Rights Day 2023 is Clean Energy Transitions.

World Tuberculosis Day- 24th March

Each year, we commemorate World Tuberculosis (TB) Day on March 24 to raise public awareness about the devastating health, social and economic consequences of TB, and to step up efforts to end the global TB epidemic.
