The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has released the SSC CGL Exam Date 2026 for the Combined Graduate Level Tier 1 examination. The exam is scheduled to be conducted from 30 September to 30 October 2026 for 12,256 Group B and C vacancies in multiple shifts.
The SSC CGL City Intimation Slip is expected to be issued 9–10 days before the examination, while the Admit Card will be available approximately 2–3 days before the candidate’s respective exam date.
SSC CGL Exam Date 2026 Out
The SSC CGL selection process consists of two stages, Tier 1 and Tier 2, with the final selection determined by candidates’ performance in Tier 2. The SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam 2026 is scheduled from 30 September to 30 October 2026 and will be conducted in Computer-Based Examination (CBE) mode.
Approximately 28.52 lakh candidates are expected to appear across 141 examination centres in India, with the exam conducted in four shifts.

SSC CGL Tier 1 Shift Timings 2026
The Tier 1 examination will be conducted in four shifts each day. Candidates should reach their allotted examination centre well before the reporting time mentioned on their admit card to complete the necessary formalities without any hassle.
- Shift 1 — Reporting Time: 07:45 AM | Exam Time: 09:00 AM – 10:00 AM

SSC CGL Tier 1 City Intimation Slip 2026
The Staff Selection Commission will inform candidates of their allotted examination city through the city intimation slip. The slip is expected to be released around 8–10 days before the SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam. To access it, candidates will need to visit the official SSC website and log in using their registration details. The city intimation slip only provides the examination city details and is different from the SSC CGL Admit Card, which will be released separately.

The SSC CGL examination is conducted at various centres across India. Candidates can choose their preferred exam centre while filling out the application form.

SSC CGL Selection Process
The Selection Process consists of two examination stages: Tier 1 and Tier 2. There is no Interview in the process.
Stage 1: Tier 1/Prelims Exam
- The Tier 1 exam is a computer-based test.
- This stage is qualifying in nature, and marks are not added to the final list.
- Only those who qualify in Tier 1, will be called for Tier 2.
Stage 2: Tier 2/Mains Exam
- Like Tier 1, this is also a CBT mode test, and candidates who pass Tier 1, will be eligible for Tier 2.
- It consists of both an Objective paper and a Typing/Skill Test.
- Tier 2 consists of Papers I, II, and III. Paper I is compulsory for all posts, and others are post-specific.
- This stage decides the final merit list.
Stage 3: Answer Key & Objection Process
- SSC will release provisional answer keys and response sheet for both Tier 1 and Tier 2.
- Candidates can check official answers to the questions asked in the exam.
- An objection window will be opened, and after considering the answer key objections, a final answer key will be released by SSC.
Stage 4: Document Verification (DV)
- SSC will verify educational certificates, category certificates, ID proof, and other required documents.
What Next After SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam 2026?
After the SSC CGL Tier 1 Exam 2026, candidates who qualify will be shortlisted for the Tier 2 Exam. SSC will release the Tier 1 result and provide details about the next stage through its official website.
SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam Date 2026
Candidates who qualify the Tier 1 exam will appear for Tier 2, with the Commission announcing the exam date and schedule on its official website. The schedule will include the exam date, shift timings, and important instructions.

The SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam is the final stage of the recruitment process and is conducted in online mode.
