Candidates must satisfy the eligibility requirements prescribed by IBPS before applying. Any discrepancy in the eligibility of a candidate will lead to application rejection. The detailed eligibility criteria for the IBPS PO Notification 2026 has been provided below: 

Nationality

The applicant for applying for the exam can be:

  1. A Citizen of India
  2. The subject of Nepal or Bhutan
  3. A Tibetan refugee who permanently settled in India before January 1, 1962
  4. A person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Burma, Vietnam, Ethiopia, Kenya, Malawi, Tanzania, Zaire, or Zambia, intending to reside in India permanently.

Educational Qualification

Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s Degree in any discipline from a recognised university or an equivalent qualification recognised by the Government of India.

  • Applicants must possess a valid mark sheet or degree certificate proving their graduate status on the day of registration and must provide the percentage of marks obtained in their graduation while registering for the IBPS Bank-PO exam.

Computer Literacy:

There is no specific restriction on the number of times you can appear for the IBPS PO Exam, provided you meet the eligibility criteria, particularly the age requirement. This means you can take the exam multiple times until you reach the upper age limit.

IBPS PO 2026 Selection Process

The IBPS PO recruitment process consists of three stages:

The IBPS PO Selection Process 2026 consists of four stages: Prelims, Mains, Personality Test, and Interview. Candidates must qualify at each stage to move to the next round. The final selection is based on the marks obtained in the Mains Examination and Interview, while the Preliminary Exam is qualifying in nature.

Stage 1. Prelims Exam (Qualifying Stage)

Prelims consists of English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability.
Candidates must secure the prescribed sectional and overall cut-off marks to qualify for the Mains Exam. Prelims are only qualifying.

Stage 2. Mains Exam

Prelims-qualified candidates are eligible for the Mains exam. The Mains Exam includes both objective and descriptive tests and evaluates candidates on reasoning, data analysis, English, general awareness, and other banking-related subjects. Sectional cut-off also applies here. Main marks are considered for the final merit list.

Stage 3. Personality Test

Candidates shortlisted through the Mains Exam must appear for a Personality Test (Self-Report). The Personality Test is mandatory, but it is non-qualifying in nature.
The personality profile generated through this test is shared with the Interview Panel to help assess the candidate during the interview.

**Candidates who do not appear for the Personality Test will not be eligible for the Interview.

Stage 4. Interview
Candidates who qualify the Mains Exam and complete the Personality Test are called for the Interview. It is conducted by participating banks. The Interview carries 100 marks. The minimum qualifying marks are:

40% for General/EWS candidates.
35% for SC/ST/OBC/PwBD candidates.

The final merit is prepared by giving 80% weightage to the Mains Exam and 20% weightage to the Interview.

Candidates must qualify both the Mains Exam and the Interview to be considered for final provisional allotment in participating banks.

As per the IBPS PO selection process, the final selection is based on the marks scored in the Main examination and the Interview. IBPS revised the Prelims exam pattern last year, and this year the Mains pattern has been changed. Check the latest exam pattern below.

The Prelims comprises three sections, including English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. A total of 100 questions are asked for 100 marks, with a duration of 60 minutes. There is a negative marking of -0.25 deducted for each incorrect attempt.

IBPS will issue the IBPS PO 2026 admit card online for candidates who successfully submit their application forms. The call letter is expected to be released around 7–10 days before both the Preliminary and Main examinations.
