    SBI PO Nationality

    1. The candidates must hold Indian Citizenship
    2. A Subject of Nepal or Bhutan
    3. A Tibetan Refugee who came to India before 1st January 1962 with the intention of permanent settlement
    4. A Person of Indian Origin (PIO) who has migrated from Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Vietnam, or East African countries of Zaire, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, Zambia, Ethiopia, or Malawi, with the intention of permanent settlement in India

    Note: Candidates belonging to categories 2, 3, and 4 must have a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India in their favour if willing to apply for SBI PO 2026.

    SBI PO Qualification

    1. A candidate must be a graduate in any discipline from a recognised University or any equivalent qualification recognised as such by the Central Government.
    2. Final Year/Semester candidates can also apply only if they produce proof of their graduation on the date of the interview.

    Number of Attempts in SBI PO Exam

    • UR / EWS: 4 chances/attempts
    • UR (PwBD)/EWS (PwBD)/OBC/OBC (PwBD): 7 chances/attempts
    • SC/ST (including PwBD): No limit

    Note: 

    • Appearing only in the Preliminary Exam will not be counted as an attempt.
    • Appearing in the Main Exam will be considered an attempt.
    • If only one written exam (no prelims) was held in a particular year, then appearing in that exam counts as one attempt.

    SBI PO 2026 Selection Process

    The SBI PO Selection Process 2026 involves three phases, which the candidates need to qualify for the final recruitment. The Prelims and Mains exams are both online exams that are conducted to assess the knowledge of the candidates.

    Negative Marking SBI PO Prelims and Mains Exam

    In both the SBI PO Prelims and Mains exams, negative marking is applicable for wrong answers in the objective tests. For every incorrect answer, 0.25 marks (¼th of the marks assigned to the question) are deducted. However, there is no penalty for unanswered questions.

    SBI PO 2026 Application Process and Fees

    The application process will be conducted entirely online through the official SBI website. Candidates must complete registration, pay the required application fee, and upload documents in the prescribed format. The expected application fee will be around Rs. 750 for general and OBC categories, while candidates belonging to SC, ST, and PwD categories are likely to be exempted from the fee.
