Table of Contents
The Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) will conduct the Specialist Officer Exam (CRP SPL) for managerial-level posts in Human Resource, IT, Agriculture, Law, Marketing, and Rajbhasha. This is an annual examination that is conducted to provide a bank job opportunity to professional degree holders.
The selection process consists of Prelims, Mains, and Interview, and the syllabus slightly varies as per different posts. Candidates are evaluated based on their performance in all 3 stages and professional knowledge of the field for which they apply.
IBPS SO 2026 – Latest Update
- In 2026, it is going to be the 16th edition of the IBPS SO Exam, and hence, the recruitment name is IBPS Common Recruitment Process- Specialist Post- XVI (CRP SPL XVI).
- The official IBPS SO Notification 2026 is expected to be released in June 2026.
- IBPS has already announced the Exam dates for the Prelims and Mains Exam stages, and it will be conducted as per the official schedule. The Prelims will be held on 29th August 2026, and the Mains is scheduled for 1st November 2026.
- Final Selection is decided based on performance in Mains & Interview in the ratio of 80:20.
- Candidates selected through the IBPS SO exam will be appointed at the most renowned Public Sector Banks.

IBPS SO 2026 Eligibility Criteria
The candidates can go through the minimum IBPS SO Eligibility Criteria below in terms of Nationality, Educational Qualification, and age limit.
Nationality
The candidate should have a citizenship of India issued by the government of India. The following candidates can also apply for the IBPS SO exam:
- a subject of Nepal or
- a subject of Bhutan or
- a Tibetan Refugee, who came to India before 1st January 1962, to permanently settle in India or
- Persons migrated from India from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania (formerly Tanganyika and Zanzibar), Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam, intending to permanently settle in India, along with the certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India.

The process will be active for 25-30 days, during which candidates can register, fill out the form, upload documents, and pay the fee. Steps to Apply for IBPS SO Recruitment 2026
- Go to the official website of IBPS at www.ibps.in.
- Click on IBPS Common Recruitment Process Specialist Posts XVI Or CRP SPL XVI.
- Now, click on Apply Online.
- If you are new click on “Click Here for New Registration”.
- Fill in your Name, Phone Number, and Email ID (make sure all of these are valid).
- Once the registration process is over, a Unique Reg ID and Password will be sent via the same Email ID and phone number you just provided.
- Now, login again, and fill out the application form
- Fill in your category, address, parents’ name, exam centre preference, PwD details, etc.
- Upload Photograph, signature, and live photo.
- Now, fill in your academic and professional qualifications.
- Upload Handwritten declaration and left hand thumb impression.
- Pay the application fee.
- Preview the application form and submit.

The IBPS SO Selection Process includes the following stages:
- Preliminary exam

The IBPS SO Prelims exam is qualifying in nature.
The marks obtained in the main exam and interview are added for the final selection.
For final selection, Mains and Interview marks will be considered in the ration 80:20.
