CDS Eligibility Criteria

CDS Eligibility Criteria 2021(INA, IMA, AFA & OTA): UPSC conducts CDS test two times every year and this is one of the most well-known protection tests among the applicants who are eager to join as an Officer in the Indian Army, Navy, Air Force, and Officers Training Academies. If you are intending to compose the Combined Defence Services II 2021 Exam, you can see the detailed CDS Eligibility Criteria in this article.

CDS Eligibility Criteria 2021 for IMA, INA, AFA & OTA

The candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all the eligibility conditions for admission to the Examination. Their admission at all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.

Mere issue of Admission Certificate to the candidate will not imply that his candidature has been finally cleared by the Commission. Verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents will be taken up only after the candidate has qualified for the interview/Personality Test. Here we have given the qualification required for CDS 2 2021.

CDS Eligibility Criteria: Nationality

To be eligible for CDS Exam 2021, a candidate must be unmarried and must either be:

  • a Citizen of India, or
  • a Subject of Bhutan, or
  • a Subject of Nepal, or
  • a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st January, 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or
  • a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

CDS Eligibility Criteria: Educational Qualifications

Candidates should be well known with the education qualifications before applying for the examination. Here we have provided the complete details of the educational qualifications required for the CDS 2 2021 Examination.

ACADEMY EDUCATIONAL QUALIFICATION
INDIAN MILITARY ACADEMY Graduation Degree
INDIAN NAVAL ACADEMY B.E/B.Tech (10+2 with Physics & Maths)
AIR FORCE ACADEMY Graduation, B.E/B.Tech (10+2 with Physics &Maths)
OFFICERS’ TRAINING ACADEMY (MEN) Graduation Degree
OFFICERS’ TRAINING ACADEMY (WOMEN) Graduation Degree
Candidates who are studying in the final year/semester Degree course and have yet to pass the final year degree examination can also apply provided candidate should not have any present backlog upto the last semester / year for which results have been declared upto the time of submission of application and they will be required to submit proof of passing the degree examination at the time of commencement of course.
Candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications which are recognised by government as equivalent to professional and technical degrees would also be eligible for admission to the examination.

CDS Eligibility Criteria: Age Limits, Sex and Marital Status

Here we have provided you with the age limit for the CDS 2 2021 Exam. So before applying to try to go through the full notification provided by UPSC.
ACADEMY AGE LIMIT
INDIAN MILITARY ACADEMY 19-24 years
INDIAN NAVAL ACADEMY 19-24 years
AIR FORCE ACADEMY 20-24 years
OFFICERS’ TRAINING ACADEMY (MEN) 19-25 years
OFFICERS’ TRAINING ACADEMY (WOMEN) 19-25 years

(i) For IMA(CDS IMA Eligibility) — Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July 1998 and not later than 1st July 2003 only are eligible.

(ii) For Indian Naval Academy(CDS INA Eligibility) — Unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July 1998 and not later than 1st July 2003 only are eligible.

(iii) For Air Force Academy(CDS AFA Eligibility) —  20 to 24 years as on 1 st July 2022 i.e. born not earlier than 2nd July 1998 and not later than 1st July 2002 (Upper age limit for candidates holding valid and current Commercial Pilot Licence issued by DGCA (India) is relaxable up to 26 yrs. i.e. born not earlier than 2nd July 1996 and not later than 1st July 2002 only are eligible.

Note: Candidate below 25 years of age must be unmarried. Marriage is not permitted during training. Married candidates above 25 years of age are eligible to apply but during the training period they will neither be provided married accommodation nor can they live with family out of the premises.

(iv) For Officers’ Training Academy — (SSC Course for men) unmarried male candidates born not earlier than 2nd July 1997 and not later than 1st July 2003 only are eligible.

(v) For Officers’ Training Academy — (SSC Women Non-Technical Course) Unmarried women, issueless widows who have not remarried, and issueless divorcees (in possession of divorce documents) who have not remarried are eligible. They should have been born not earlier than 2nd July 1997 and not later than 1st July 2003.

NOTE: Male divorcee/widower candidates cannot be treated as unmarried males for the purpose of their admission in IMA/INA/AFA/OTA, Chennai courses, and accordingly they are not eligible for these courses.
