UPSC CAPF AC 2024 Eligibility Criteria

UPSC CAPF 2024 Exam Pattern

The UPSC CAPF Ac Recruitment 2024 exam pattern comprises two phases. The first phase is a written test consisting of two parts: Paper I and Paper II. In Paper I, there will be a negative marking  where 0.33 marks will be deducted for every incorrect answer.

UPSC CAPF AC 2024 Syllabus

UPSC CAPF syllabus is different for both Paper 1 and Paper 2. A candidate must know the Exam syllabus to clear the exam with good marks.

UPSC CAPF Paper 1 Syllabus

Paper 1 of the UPSC CAPF is objective type paper. Candidates should make proper notes of every topic in a detailed manner so that they can revise them at the end moment. It is advised to follow limited resources and revise them only multiple times to retain in the memory. The CAPF AC Syllabus 2024 paper 1 consists of the following subjects and topics.

Paper I : General Ability and Intelligence test

The objective type questions with multiple choices in this paper will broadly cover the following
1. General Mental Ability- The questions will be designed to test the logical reasoning, quantitative aptitude including
numerical ability, and data interpretation.
2. General Science-The questions will be set to test general awareness, scientific temper, comprehension and
appreciation of scientific phenomena of everyday observation including new areas of importance
like Information Technology, Biotechnology, Environmental Science.
3. Current Events of National and International Importance:- The questions will test the candidates’ awareness of current events of national and international
importance in the broad areas of culture, music, arts, literature, sports, governance, societal and
developmental issues, industry, business, globalisation, and interplay among nations.
4. Indian Polity and Economy:-The questions shall aim to test candidates’ knowledge of the Country’s political system and the Constitution of India, social systems and public administration, economic development in India,
regional and international security issues and human rights including its indicators.
5. History of India :- The questions will broadly cover the subject in its social, economic and political aspects. This shall also include the areas of growth of nationalism and freedom movement.
6. Indian and World Geography:- The questions shall cover the physical, social and economic aspects of geography pertaining to India and the World.

Paper II : General Studies, Essay and Comprehension


Essay questions which are to be answered in long narrative form either in Hindi or English totaling 80 Marks. The indicative topics are modern Indian history especially of the freedom struggle, geography, polity and economy knowledge of security and human rights issues, and analytical ability.


Comprehension, Précis writing, other communications/language skills in English only (Marks 120) – The topics are Comprehension passages, précis writing, developing counter arguments, simple grammar and other aspects of language testing.

UPSC CAPF AC Paper 2 Syllabus

The CAPF AC Syllabus 2024 paper 2 consists of subjects like: General Studies, Essay (English or Hindi), précis writing & Comprehension. Given below is the detailed CAPF AC Syllabus 2024 for paper 2.

UPSC CAPF AC 2024 Selection Process

UPSC CAPF Physical Standard Test

Candidates must fulfill the physical standards specified by UPSC to be eligible for the exam. Here are the minimum physical requirements set in UPSC CAPF AC Recruitment 2024 that candidates needs to meet at the time of physical examination. Candidates who fails to meet the established standards will be disqualified.

UPSC CAPF Physical Fitness Test

A candidate should be in proper shape and size to pass the physical fitness test. He/She should devote atleast one to two hours a day for increasing the physical capability and stamina to perform well in the Physical fitness test. The CAPF AC Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests is given below :

UPSC CAPF AC Medical Standards

The candidates must follow the given medical standards to appear in the UPSC CAPF AC recruitment 2024.

UPSC CAPF AC Interview

Candidates who pass the Medical Standards Tests will proceed to the Interview/Personality Test conducted by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). If a candidate is initially declared medically unfit but is allowed to appeal and appear before a “Review Medical Board,” they will also be called for the Interview/Personality Test provisionally.

The Interview/Personality Test will carry 150 marks. Candidates who are shortlisted for the Interview/Personality Test, including those provisionally shortlisted, will receive a Detailed Application Form (DAF). In the DAF, candidates will need to indicate their preference for the Forces among other required details.

A candidate should prepare for Interview and Personality Test by working on his/her speaking skills and behaviour skills.


The merit list will be prepared on the basis of marks obtained by the candidates in the Written Examination and Interview/Personality Test.

The candidates who pass Written Test, Physical Test, Medical Test and The Interview test are finally selected for the post of Assistant Commandant in the Armed forces of their choice.

Who is eligible for UPSC CAPF 2024?

Anyone with a graduation degree in any domain is eligible for UPSC CAPF exam

Is there a criterion for negative marking?

There is a negative marking of ⅓ marks (0.33) for every wrong answer.

Will the CAPF exam be conducted online or offline (OMR Based)?

Written Exam for CAPF (Assistant Commandants) will be conducted in offline mode. The paper 1 will be objective type and Paper 2 will be Descriptive exam.

What is the safe score in UPSC CAPF?

For general candidates, 95-100 is the safe score in Paper 1 and 170-180 is the safe score in Paper 2.
