About SSC CPO Exam
SSC CPO stands for the Staff Selection Commission Central Police Organisation Examination, which is conducted annually to recruit candidates for the post of Sub-Inspector (SI). Candidates who possess a Bachelor’s degree are eligible to apply for this examination.
The selection process includes Tier 1 (Paper 1), Physical Efficiency Test/Physical Standard Test (PET/PST), Tier 2 (Paper 2), and a Medical Examination. Candidates who successfully clear all stages are appointed based on the requirements of the respective force or department.

SSC CPO Vacancy Details 2026
The Vacancy details will be announced along with the official notification. This year, the SSC CPO Exam will be held to fill SI posts in Delhi Police, BSF, CISF, CRPF, ITBP, and SSB. Candidates can also refer to the previous year’s post-wise vacancy distribution for reference.
Last year (2025), a total of 3073 vacancies were released, and a similar number of openings can be expected this year as well.
SSC CPO 2026 Application Process
The Registration will start soon on the official website of SSC at www.ssc.gov.in. Candidates have to make an Aadhaar authentication-based One Time Registration, and then they can fill out the application form.
Application Fee
The application fee can be paid online through BHIM UPI, Net Banking or by using Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, or RuPay Debit cards. The application fee is:

For Female candidates/SC/ST/ESM: Exempted
Steps to Fill Out the SSC CPO Application Form
- Go to the official website of SSC at www.ssc.gov.in.
- Now, click on the Apply Online button given on the homepage. After you click, you will see the link to apply for SSC CPO Recruitment 2026.
- Now, make your Aadhaar authentication-based One Time Registration, if not done.
- A unique ID and Password will be provided to you after completing the registration, and you can login to proceed to fill out the application form.
- Now, upload documents, fill in the details, and pay the application fee.
- Before submitting, cross-check for any mistakes and after that, submit the application form.
- Take a printout of the application form for future use.
SSC CPO 2026 Eligibility Criteria
A candidate must fulfil the eligibility criteria to apply for SSC CPO. Educational Qualifications and Age Limit required for the job are explained below points.
Educational Qualifications
- Candidates having a Graduation Degree in any stream from any recognized university will be eligible for this post.
- For the post of Sub Inspector in Delhi Police (only) – Male candidates must possess a valid Driving License for LMV (Motorcycle and Car) as on the date fixed for Physical Endurance and Standard Tests. Otherwise, they will not be allowed to undergo Physical Endurance and Standard Tests.
Age Limit
- Minimum Age Limit – 20 years
- Maximum Age Limit – 25 years
Age Relaxation
The age relaxation is given to the reserved category as per the government rules and is tabulated below.

Nationality/ Citizenship
A candidate must be either:
1. a citizen of India, or
2. a subject of Nepal, or
3. a subject of Bhutan, or
4. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories 2 and 3 above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
5. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary will be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment will be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.

SSC CPO Exam Pattern
The SSC CPO Exam Pattern 2026 is explained below.
- Questions asked in both paper-1 and paper-2 of SSC CPO 2026 will be of Objective Multiple Choice Type.
- Questions asked will be bilingual, i.e. in both Hindi and English.
- 0.25 marks will be deducted for each incorrect answer.
- Duration is 2 hours
- There are a total of 4 sections in the Tier 1 Exam, and each carries equal number of questions

The final merit list will be tabulated based on a candidate’s performance in all three phases of the SSC CPO Exam and then the Medical Examination of the selected candidates will take place.
