The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has announced the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam date for 2026 for candidates appearing in the Combined Graduate Level examination. The Tier 1 examination will be conducted from 30 September to 30 October 2026 in multiple shifts to recruit candidates for 12,256 Group B and Group C posts.
SSC CGL Exam Date 2026 Out
The SSC CGL 2026 selection process consists of Tier 1 and Tier 2, with candidates being shortlisted for final selection based on their Tier 2 performance. The Tier 1 examination is scheduled to take place in Computer-Based Examination mode from 30 September to 30 October 2026.
Nearly 28.52 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the exam, which will be conducted across 141 centres in four shifts. SSC has also introduced sectional timing in both Tier 1 and Tier 2, so candidates should carefully understand the latest exam pattern before appearing for the examination. SSC CGL Tier 1 Shift Timings 2026
The SSC CGL Tier 1 examination will be conducted in four shifts each day. Candidates should reach the allotted exam centre well before the reporting time mentioned on their call letter to complete the verification and other pre-exam formalities without any delay.

SSC CGL Selection Process
The Selection Process consists of two examination stages: Tier 1 and Tier 2. There is no Interview in the process.

The SSC CGL Tier 2 Exam is the final stage of the recruitment process and is conducted in online mode. Paper I is compulsory for all candidates, while Paper II and Paper III are conducted only for specific posts. SSC CGL Answer Key and Result 2026 (Expected Timeline)
Once the Tier 1 exam concludes on 30 October 2026, SSC will release the provisional answer key along with the response sheet on its official regional websites. After reviewing all objections, SSC will publish the final Tier 1 answer key, followed by the Tier 1 result and category-wise cut-off marks. Candidates who clear Tier 1 will then be shortlisted for Tier 2, which has its own separate answer key and result process.
