How is the India Post GDS Merit List prepared?

The department applies a formula to prepare the 1st merit list. The list contains the names and registration numbers of all candidates who have been selected based on their 10th-class marks.

For candidates with grades instead of marks, the conversion formula is: Marks = Grade Point × Multiplication Factor (9.5). Check the Grade Serial and respective points below:

Grade Grade Point
Multiplication Factor
A1 10 9.5
A2 9 9.5
B1 8 9.5
B2 7 9.5
C1 6 9.5
C2 5 9.5
D 4 9.5

Does the Department of Post issues Multiple GDS Merit Lists?

Yes, the Postal department issued multiple merit lists to give a chance to all eligible candidates. The first merit list skims out all the high-grade candidates across all categories. Later on the successive merit lists follow the same process as the 1st one. It is to ensure the vacancies are filled and all candidates get a chance.

What is the Indian Post GDS Cut Off 2026?

Based on previous years’ trends, the cut-off marks can go up to 100%, though they usually range between 85% and 95%. The final cut-off largely depends on factors such as the number of vacancies and the Class 10 marks obtained by candidates.

Documents Required for India Post GDS Document Verification

Candidates whose names appear on the GDS Merit List must attend the Document Verification round. They need to carry the following original documents along with two sets of self-attested photocopies:

  • 10th Marksheet
