CDS General Bipin Rawat’s Chopper Crashes in Tamil Nadu

Indian Air Force has tweeted officially, An IAF Mi-17V5 helicopter, with CDS General Bipin Rawat on board, met with an accident today at 12:20 pm near Coonoor, Tamil Nadu. An inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident.

The Army was chopper the CDS along with his wife and some staff members, including his Defence Assistant, Security commandos and other Air Force personnel. Official sources has confirmed that all the injured people have been safely evacuated from the place. According to the official sources, General Bipin Rawat has been admitted to the Hospital. Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu will leave for the Coimbatore at 5pm to inspect the situation.

General Bipin Rawat took charge as a India’s first Chief of Defence Staff on 30 Dec 2019. General Bipin Rawat was named the Chief of Defence Staff just a day before he was to retire from service after completing a full three-year term as the Chief of Army Staff on 31 Dec 2019.General  Bipin Rawat is the first Indian Army officer to hold the post of the Chief of Defence Staff, which was set up just days ago by Government of India. The main function of Chief of Defence Staff will be to act as a single-point advisor to the government on matters related to the military.
