Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Starts 3 Days Malaysia Visit

On July 9, 2023, Sunday, Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh arrived in Kuala Lumpur for a three-day official visit to Malaysia aimed at enhancing bilateral defence cooperation and strengthening the Enhanced Strategic Partnership between the two countries. Singh is set to engage in comprehensive discussions with his Malaysian counterpart, Dato’ Seri Mohamad Hasan, and also pay a courtesy visit to Prime Minister YB Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim.

During the bilateral talks with Dato’ Seri Mohamad Hasan, both ministers will assess the existing defence cooperation and explore new avenues to reinforce their engagement. They will also exchange perspectives on regional and global matters of mutual interest. Additionally, Mr Singh will have the opportunity to meet with Prime Minister Dato’ Seri Anwar bin Ibrahim during his visit.

The Defence Ministry emphasized that India and Malaysia share a common interest in promoting peace and prosperity in the region. The two democracies have developed a strong and diverse relationship encompassing various strategic domains, including defence and security.

“India and Malaysia have a common interest in peace and prosperity of the entire region. The two democracies have a robust and multifaceted relationship which has expanded into several strategic areas, including defence and security,” the defence ministry said. “Both the countries are committed to work under the vision of enhanced strategic partnership established during the visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Malaysia in 2015,” it said.
