AFCAT Full Form: AFCAT, or the Air Force Common Admission Test, is an entrance examination for individuals aspiring to join the Indian Air Force in technical and non-technical positions. The Permanent Commission refers to a career in the Indian Air Force until retirement. The short service commission means a limited period career in the IAF. The term for the SSC is 14 years

AFCAT Full Form: Eligibility for AFCAT

The following criteria is applicable for both male and female candidates who are appearing for the AFCAT. Let us look at the different eligibility criteria of the AFCAT Exam for different branches-

Age Criteria
Flying Branch 20 to 24 years at the time of commencement. If the candidate has a valid and current Commercial Pilot License issued by the DGCA of India, the age limit is relaxed up to 26 years.
Technical Branch and Ground Duty Branch 20-26 years at the time of commencement.
Nationality – Indian
Marital Status – Unmarried

AFCAT Full Form: AFCAT Educational Qualification

Candidates who have completed a three-year or four-year course in any discipline from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks. The candidate should have studied Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level. Students who are in their final year are also eligible to apply, as long as they do not have any backlog at the time of the Testing and produce their Degree certificate issued by the University before the stipulated date in the advertisement.

AFCAT Full Form: Procedure to Get Into IAF

The candidates who prepare for the AFCAT exam must be aware of the procedure through which they can get into the IAF. Given below is the complete procedure to get into IAF:

  1. AFCAT – Clear the aptitude exam i.e. AFCAT, which is conducted twice a year
  2. AFSB-SSB Interview involves a two-step procedure based on Psychological Aptitude Test which will be held at Selection Centres. All the candidates will face the stage one test on the first day of reporting at the Selection Centres. The candidates who qualify in stage one will be admitted to the second stage/remaining tests. Those who fail to pass stage one will be returned on the same date. After five days stay final results are called out during the conference.
  3. Medicals – Once declared medically fit, it is highly probable that the candidate would go on to the AFA for a 48-week long training before being inducted into the force. However medical failed candidates can ask for a review board depending upon the type of unfitness declared.

AFCAT Exam Pattern

The AFCAT exam is a two-hour online test that assesses candidates aptitude for various positions in the Indian Air Force.

  • The exam consists of 100 questions.
  • Each correct answer is worth three marks.
  • Each incorrect answer deducts one mark. Unanswered questions do not receive any points.

A combination of scores from the written exam, AFSB test, and medical examination determines the final selection. Non-technical candidates need to clear only the AFCAT exam, while technical candidates must also pass the EKT (Engineering knowledge test).
