GDS Recruitment 2026 Eligibility Criteria
Candidates applying for India Post GDS Recruitment must meet the eligibility conditions related to education, age limit, and local language proficiency as per the official notification. Check the GDS Eligibility criteria here.
India Post GDS Educational Qualification
- Must have passed Class 10 from a recognised board.
- Mathematics and English should be studied as compulsory/elective subjects.
- Must have studied the local language up to Class 10 and be able to read, write, and speak it.
- Basic computer knowledge is required.
- The ability to ride a bicycle is mandatory (unless exempted by a competent authority).
- Candidates should have adequate means of livelihood

- Minimum Age: 18 years
- Maximum Age: 40 years
Age Relaxation:
- SC/ST: 5 years
- OBC: 3 years
- EWS: No relaxation
- PwD: 10 years (up to 15 years for PwD + SC/ST)
GDS State Preference & Local Language Requirement
Preference is given to candidates from the same postal circle/state where Class 10 was completed. Studying the local language up to Class 10 is mandatory, and a lack of proficiency may lead to rejection during document verification.
