India Post GDS Eligibility Criteria

India Post GDS Educational Qualification
- Must have passed Class 10 from a recognised board.
- Mathematics and English should be studied as compulsory/elective subjects.

How to prepare the India Post GDS Merit List?
The first merit list is prepared using a standard formula based on Class 10 marks. It contains the names and registration numbers of selected candidates. Does the Department of Post issues Multiple GDS Merit Lists?

Post Office GDS Selection Process
After the release of the GDS Merit List 2026, shortlisted candidates will be called by the concerned Engaging Authority (Divisional Head or Unit Head of the respective division/unit) for physical verification of their original documents. Upon successful verification, a system-generated provisional engagement offer will be issued on the spot.
Candidates must then complete all pre-engagement formalities within 30 days of receiving the offer. Once all verification reports are received and found satisfactory, the final engagement order will be issued, officially confirming the candidate’s appointment as a Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS).
