IBPS RRB Syllabus 2026

The IBPS RRB 2026 exams are conducted in two stages: Prelims and Mains, followed by an interview for the officer-level posts. The IBPS RRB Syllabus is designed to test a candidate’s aptitude, reasoning ability, numerical skills, language proficiency, and awareness of current events(General and Financial).

The Prelims exam is held for 80 marks, while the Mains exam carries 200 marks. A Negative marking of 0.25 applies to wrong answers for the Prelims and Mains stages of the selection process.  To qualify, candidates must meet both the overall and sectional cut-off marks. The IBPS RRB exam is one of the most popular bank exams in India.

The IBPS RRB Syllabus is divided into two phases: Prelims and Mains. The Officer Scale I (PO) exam consists of three stages, with the third stage being the Interview round. Similarly, the Officer Scale II (Specialist Officer) exam also includes three stages.

IBPS RRB Exam Pattern 2026

The IBPS RRB Exam Pattern for the PO, Clerk, Officer Grade-II & III posts has been discussed here.

  1. For RRB Clerk, there will be two stages of the Exam- Prelims & Mains
  2. For RRB PO or Officer Scale I, there will be three stages of the Exam- Prelims, Mains & Interview
  3. For Officer Grade II (General Banking Officer and Specialist Cadre) and III, there will be a single-window exam- Officer Grade II Exam & Interview
  4. For all posts in RRB, candidates must pass each stage of the exam to secure a successful selection.

Important Note: This year IBPS has introduced some changes in IBPS PO Exam Pattern, but there is no confirmation regarding revision of IBPS RRB Exam Pattern, so candidates must stick to the old pattern which is given below.

IBPS RRB Clerk Prelims Exam Pattern 2026

A composite time of 45 minutes is provided to candidates to complete two sections, namely Reasoning and Numerical Ability. Candidates must clear the cut-off of each section. The cut-off for each section is decided by the IBPS team, depending on the level of difficulty of the paper.

IBPS RRB Clerk Mains Exam Pattern 2026

A composite time of 2 hours is provided to candidates to complete five sections, namely Reasoning and Numerical Ability, General Awareness, English/Hindi Language, and Computer Knowledge, IBPS RRB Assistant Mains Exam. There will be a penalty of 0.25 marks for every incorrect answer.

IBPS RRB PO Prelims Exam Pattern 2026

IBPS RRB Interview Details

Candidates who get shortlisted in the main examination for the post of Officers Scale I, II & III will be subsequently called for an interview coordinated by the Nodal Regional Rural Bank with the help of NABARD.

The marks for the interview are 100. The minimum qualifying marks in the interview for Officers Scale I, II, and III will be as per extant guidelines. Only by qualifying both in the Online Examination (Main/Single) and Common Interview with sufficiently high marks will candidates be shortlisted for the subsequent provisional allotment process.

How Much Time is Required to Cover the IBPS RRB Syllabus?

The time required to cover the IBPS RRB syllabus depends on your current preparation level, familiarity with the subjects, and the post you’re applying for. However, here’s a general estimate:
