RBI Grade B Selection Stages
Once you are acknowledged with the RBI Grade B selection process you can start the preparation accordingly. Have a look at the selection process mentioned below.
- Phase-I or Prelims: This is an online objective-type exam with four sections: General Awareness, English Language, Quantitative Aptitude, and Reasoning Ability. Each section carries equal weight, and the total duration is 2 hours.
- Phase II or Mains: It is also an online exam, divided into three papers: Economic and Social Issues, English (Writing Skills), and Finance and Management/Economics/Statistics. The duration for each paper varies, and there is a 50% descriptive section in the both ESI and FM Papers
- Interview: Candidates who qualify in Phase 2 are shortlisted for the interview, which holds a weightage of 75 marks. The final selection is based on the aggregate scores of Phase 2 and the interview.

RBI Grade B Stage 1: Phase 1
- The RBI Grade B Prelims exam will be 200 marks with a total time duration of 120 minutes.
- There will be a specific sectional duration which will be mentioned in the admission letter.
- There will mainly be four sections

RBI Garde B Stage 2: Phase 2
- There are three separate papers in the main exam.
- For RBI Grade B Officers in Gr B (DR)- General, candidates have to appear for papers I, II, and III.
- For RBI Grade B Officers in Gr B (DR)- DEPR & DSIM, candidates have to appear for Paper-II and III.
- Paper I & III are 50% Objective & 50 % descriptive while Paper- II is Descriptive only.
- Each paper will be 100 marks.
- The English paper is a descriptive test.

RBI Grade B Officer Stage 3: Interview
Candidates will be shortlisted for the interview, based on aggregate marks obtained in Paper-I, Paper-II, and Paper-III of the Phase II exam. The interview process will carry 75 marks. The RBI Grade B interview is the final stage of the selection process. Shortlisted candidates through RBI Grade Phase 2 Exam are called for a personal interview, which assesses their suitability for the role. The interview panel evaluates candidates based on their knowledge, communication skills, problem-solving abilities, and overall personality. It is crucial for candidates to be well-prepared by understanding the banking sector, current affairs, economic policies, and RBI-related topics. The interview process plays a significant role in determining the final selection of candidates for the prestigious RBI Grade B officer position.
How long is RBI Grade B Selection Process?
The RBI Grade Selection Process is conducted in 3 stages: Phase 1, Phase 2, and Interview. The recruitment cycle from the release of notification to the final result takes 6-7 months. Within a month and a half time of the release of the official notification, Phase 1 is conducted after 25-30 days, the Phase 2 Examination is conducted. The RBI Grade B interview stage comes after 1-2 months after the Phase 2 exam and the Final result is released after that. Candidates who are planning to appear for the recruitment cycle must mark the dates in the calendar because RBI releases the exam dates in advance except for the interview which is announced later on.
