The Indian Rhinoceros, also known as the One Horned Rhinos or Great Indian Rhinoceros is native to Indian subcontinent. India has the largest population of One Horned Rhinoceros. It is listed as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List by UNESCO World Heritage Conservation.

Kaziranga National Park

Kaziranga National Park is located in the hearts of Assam. It is a World Heritage Site hosting two-thirds of the world’s great one-horned rhinoceroses. According to the recent survey,  the rhino population in Kaziranga National Park is 2,413. Kaziranga National Park is also home to the highest density of tigers among protected areas in the world, and was declared a Tiger Reserve in 2006.

Kaziranga is also a Wildlife Sanctuary and is home to large breeding populations of elephants, wild water buffalo, and swamp deer. It was declared a Bird Sanctuary by Bird Life International for conservation of avifaunal species.
