The Indian Army TGC 139 Eligibility Criteria can be summarized as follows:

(a) Nationality:

  • (i) A citizen of India, or
  • (ii) a subject of Nepal, or
  • (iii) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka and East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India. Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (ii) and (iii) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by Government of India. Certificate of eligibility will however not be necessary in the case of candidates who are Gorkha subjects of Nepal. A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary, will attach such certificate alongwith the application.

(b) Age Limit: Candidates must be between 20 to 27 years old as of July 1, 2024, which means they should have been born between July 2, 1997, and July 1, 2004.

(c) Educational Qualification:

  • Candidates should have either completed their Engineering Degree course or be in the final year of an Engineering Degree course at the time of application.
  • Final year engineering students must provide proof of passing the Engineering Degree Examination, along with marksheets of all semesters/years, by July 1, 2024. The Engineering Degree Certificate must be produced within 12 weeks from the commencement of training at Indian Military Academy (IMA).
  • Candidates appearing for their final year/semester exams after July 1, 2024, are not eligible for this course.
  • Special concessions are given to candidates who have yet to pass their degree examination but are in the final year. They must provide proof of passing the Engineering Degree Examination by the prescribed date.

Note: The date of birth mentioned in the Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate or Equivalent Examination Certificate at the time of application is the accepted record for age determination. Final year students must provide proof of passing the degree examination as per the specified timeline, and no extensions will be granted for late conduct of examinations or result declarations.
