SSC CHSL Tier 1 Exam Pattern 2025

As per the SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2025, the Tier 1 exam comprises 100 questions carrying a total of 200 marks. It is divided into four sections, each containing 25 questions, and candidates are allotted 60 minutes to complete the test. In case the exam is held in multiple shifts, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will apply a normalisation process to maintain fairness in the scoring process.

The sections asked in the SSC CHSL Tier-I Exam are:

  • English Comprehension

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern 2025

The SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern has been updated and is divided into two sessions. Candidates who qualify in the Tier 1 exam will be eligible to appear for Tier 2. In Session I, the exam includes multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering various subjects, designed to test the candidate’s knowledge and understanding. Session II consists of a Typing Test or Skill Test, aimed at assessing the candidate’s typing speed and accuracy. SSC CHSL Negative Marking

In Tier 1, a penalty of 0.50 marks is applied for every incorrect answer, while in Tier 2, 1 mark is deducted for each wrong response in Section 1, Section 2, and Module I of Section 3. Hence, candidates are advised to answer carefully and avoid random guessing to minimize negative marking.

SSC CHSL Resolution of Tie Cases

In the case of a tie in scores of candidates who appeared in Tier-I and Tier-II examinations, merit will be decided by applying the following criteria, one after another, till the tie is resolved:

  1. Total marks of the Tier-II Examination.
  2. Total marks in Tier-I Examination.
  3. Date of birth, with the elder candidates, placed higher.
  4. Alphabetical order in which the first names of the candidates appear.
