RBI Grade B Eligibility Criteria
It’s important to meet the Eligibility Criteria, as only candidates who satisfy these requirements will be allowed to apply and appear for the Grade B exam. There are 3 criteria that applicants must be aware of: Age limit, qualification, and nationality.
Age Limit (1/4/2026)
Candidates applying for the RBI Grade B officer exam must be at least 21 years old, with the upper age limit set at 30 years. This means applicants should not have turned 30 by the date specified in the official notification.
Note: He/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd April 1996 and not later than 1st April 2005. Age relaxation is provided to certain categories as mentioned below.

Nationality
As per the RBI Grade B 2026 Eligibility, the candidates must fulfil the nationality criteria. The candidates must be either:
- a citizen of India, or
- a subject of Nepal, or
- a subject of Bhutan, or
- a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1st January 1962 to permanently settle in India, or
- a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia, and Vietnam to settle in India permanently.

Grade B Mains Exam Pattern
- There are three separate papers in the main exam.
- For RBI Grade B Officers in Gr B (DR)- General, candidates have to appear for papers I, II, and III.
- For RBI Grade B Officers in Gr B (DR)- DEPR & DSIM, candidates have to appear for papers II and III.
- Papers I & III are 50% Objective & 50 % descriptive, while Paper II is Descriptive only.

How Many Attempts Are Allowed in RBI Grade B?
