Selection process for the Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant
The selection process for the Indian Coast Guard Assistant Commandant post consists of five stages.
Stage I involves the Coast Guard Common Admission Test (CGCAT), a computer-based screening test with 100 multiple-choice questions covering subjects like English, Reasoning, Numerical Ability, General Science, Mathematics, and General Knowledge.

Indian Coast Guard: Eligibility Criteria
For the General Duty (GD) post, candidates must possess a Bachelor’s degree from a recognized university, with Physics and Mathematics as subjects at the 10+2 level. Diploma holders must ensure their curriculum includes Physics and Mathematics. The age limit for this post is candidates born between 01 July, 2000, and 30 June, 2004 (both dates inclusive).
For the Technical Branch, candidates must hold a degree in Engineering in disciplines such as Naval Architecture, Mechanical, Marine, Automotive, Mechatronics, or related fields. Those with an Electrical or Electronics Engineering background are also eligible. The age limit for this post is the same, requiring candidates to be born between 01 July, 2000, and 30 June, 2004 (both dates inclusive).
