  • In 1942, Field Marshal Cariappa established the 7th Rajput Machine Gun Battalion, later renamed 17 Rajput.
  • Recognized for his contributions, KM Cariappa was honored with the rank of Field Marshal in 1986.
  • Field Marshal Cariappa passed away at the age of 94 in 1993, leaving behind a remarkable legacy in the history of the Indian Army.
