Indian Air Force’s Combined Graduation Parade in Dundigal

A vibrant Combined Graduation Parade of Flight Cadets of various branches of the Indian Air Force (IAF) was held at Air Force Academy in Dundigal on December 17. The day was celebrated to mark the successful completion of the pre-commissioning training of 168 Flight Cadets of the No. 210 course from various branches of the Indian Air Force.

Air Chief Marshal Shaikh Abdul Hannan, Chief of the Air Staff, Bangladesh Air Force attended the ceremony as the Chief Guest and Reviewing Officer (RO) of the Combined Graduation Parade where he conferred the ‘President’s Commission’ to the graduating trainees. For the very first time, a foreign Service Chief reviewed the CGP.

While addressing the attendees, He said India and Bangladesh have a pivotal role to play in ensuring the region’s security. He further added both countries have an ‘umbilical connection’ and that relationship has been more profound since the Bangladesh liberation war in 1971.

The ceremony included the presentation of ‘Wings’ and ‘Brevets’ to the Flight Cadets who successfully completed Flying and Navigation Training. Six officers from the Indian Navy and nine from the Indian Coast Guard were awarded ‘Wings’. from friendly foreign countries on successful completion of their flying training.

The highlight of the parade was the ‘Pipping Ceremony’ in which the graduating cadets were awarded the flying officer’s ‘Stripes’ by the RO, following which they were administered the ‘Oath’ by the Commandant of the Academy Air Marshal B. Chandra Sekhar.

What made the Combined Graduation Parade more special is its fly past which included formations of Chetak, Pilatus PC-7, Kiran and Hawk aircraft, a skydiving display by Akashganga and an aerobatic display by Pilatus PC-7, Surya Kiran Aerobatic Team (SKAT) and Sarang and aerobatic display by SU-30 aircraft.
