Minimum & Maximum age requirement for appearing in the NDA exam

The National Defense Academy is a joint service academy of the Indian Armed Forces, where candidates can undergo training for the Army, Navy, and Air Force. The age limit for eligibility criteria for NDA should be between 16.5 years to 19.5 years on the first day of the year in which the course is to begin.

  • Educational Qualification Eligibility: Under Educational Qualification Eligibility, candidates must have completed 10+2 or it’s equivalent from a recognized Board or University.
  • Nationality-Related Qualification: Under Nationality-Related Qualification, the citizenship of the candidate should be Indian. Citizenship can also be of Nepal and Bhutan. Apart from this, there can be Tibetan refugees who came to India before January 1, 1962.

Relaxation in the age limit in NDA [For reserved category candidates]

Yes, there is age relaxation for reserved category candidates in NDA which is as under:

  • There is a relaxation of 5 years in the age limit for SC and ST candidates. 

Means that the Min age limit: 16.5 years & Max age limit: 24.5 years.

  • There is an age relaxation of 3 years for OBC candidates. This means that the age of the candidate to apply for NDA can be a minimum of 16.5 years for OBC and a maximum of 22.5 years.
