SSC Stenographer Selection Process 2025: Stages

Staff Selection Commission conducts the SSC Stenographer exam every year in 2 different stages. The SSC Stenographer Selection Process has Computer-based Test and a Shorthand Skill Test and the details has been mentioned below.

• The candidate must qualify for both stages of examination to receive the appointment letter for the post of Stenographer Grades C and D.
• Candidates qualifying for the CBT test will have to appear for the shorthand test which is qualifying in nature.

• SSC Stenographer Exam will be conducted in 2 different stages to select eligible candidates. The first level is the Grade C and D written exam that consists of MCQs and is conducted online. Post this exam, an exam to test your shorthand skill sets in various domains.

SSC Stenographer 2025 Computer Based Test

SSC Stenographer Selection Process 2025 involves a single-stage Computer-Based Test (CBT). As outlined in the SSC Stenographer Syllabus 2025, the CBT covers three main sections: English Language & Comprehension, General Awareness, and General Intelligence & Reasoning. The exam comprises 200 questions carrying a total of 200 marks.

Candidates will earn 1 mark for each correct answer, while 0.25 marks will be deducted for every incorrect response. To qualify for the next stage of the selection process, it is essential to meet the cutoff marks in the SSC Stenographer CBT exam. SSC Stenographer Skill Test 2025

In the SSC Stenographer selection process, the skill test serves as a qualifying round. Candidates who successfully pass the CBT exam are eligible to participate in this stage. The candidates will be dictated a passage of 800 and 1000 wpm for Group D and C respectively, depending upon the marks obtained by the candidate.

• For Stenographer Group ‘D’: 800 words @80 words per minute (w.p.m).
• For Stenographer Group ‘C’: 1000 words @100 words per minute (w.p.m).

The shorthand passage will then have to be transcribed on a computer in 50 minutes for Grade D and 40 minutes for Grade C.

SSC Stenographer Document Verification 2025

The final stage of the SSC Stenographer selection process is Document Verification. Candidates who clear both the CBT and the skill test by meeting the cutoff criteria will be called for this round. During this phase, candidates must present all required documents as per the official guidelines. • A valid and original photo identification card
• Certificates for 10th and 12th grades
• Mark sheets for 10th and 12th grades
