How is the India Post GDS Merit List Prepared?
The India Post GDS Merit List is prepared using candidates’ Class 10 marks or grades, as no written examination is conducted. Selection is based on 10th marks, category-wise reservation, vacancies, post preferences, and successful document verification. Candidates with higher marks generally have a better chance of selection.
Does India Post release multiple merit lists?
Yes. India Post GDS recruitment is selection-based, not exam-based; candidates are shortlisted purely on their 10th/Matric marks, with no written test or interview. Because of this, India Post releases the result in multiple rounds of merit lists rather than one final list.
Calculation of India Post GDS Cut Off 2026
The merit list is prepared as per the marks obtained by the candidates in 10th standard and some other skills like knowledge of regional language, etc.
Calculation of India Post GDS Marks:
- Candidates must pass all subjects according to the norms prescribed by the recognised board.
- If the Class 10th marksheet shows marks or marks along with Grades/Points, the total marks will be calculated using all compulsory and elective/optional subjects, excluding extra subjects. This helps in prioritising candidates with higher marks.
- If the marksheet contains only Grades, marks for compulsory and elective subjects, excluding extra subjects, will be calculated using a 9.5 multiplication factor.
