India Post GDS Registration vs Application Form 2026: What’s the Difference?
GDS One-Time Registration (OTR) is step 1, whereas submitting the Online Application Form is step 2 of the GDS Online Engagement process 2026:
Step 1: User Registration started on 31st August 2026 and will remain open till 19th September 2026, 5:00 PM.
In this step, candidates only create their basic profile using an active mobile number and email ID, which are verified through OTP. On successful registration, a unique Registration Number and password are generated.
Step 2: Application submission started on 2nd September 2026 and will continue until 21st September 2026, 5:00 PM. Using their registration credentials, candidates can log in to fill out personal and educational (Class 10) details, select exam preferences, upload a photograph and signature, pay the applicable fee, and submit the final form.
You cannot apply without an OTR, but completing OTR alone doesn’t mean your application is submitted. A separate correction window (23–24 September 2026) will be provided later for editing permitted details in the submitted application.
