The SSC has released the official notification on 5th June 2025 to recruit eligible candidates for various posts in various government departments. A total of 437 vacancies have been announced. The selection process includes a Computer-Based Test (Paper I) scheduled for 12th August 2025 and a Descriptive Test (Paper II). Candidates must hold a Master’s degree in Hindi or English with relevant translation qualifications or experience. The SSC JHT Vacancy 2025 has been released along with the official notification. The commission has released a tentative number of vacancies which is 437 for the posts of Junior Hindi Translator, Junior Translator, and Senior Hindi Translator. SSC JHT Exam Date 2025

SSC Junior Hindi Translator Eligibility 2025
The eligibility criteria as mentioned in the official PDF is given below. It includes age limit, qualification, etc.
Age Limit:
18 to 30 years as of June 26, 2025 (age relaxations applicable as per government norms).
Educational Qualification:
Master’s degree in Hindi or English with the other language as a compulsory or elective subject or as the medium of examination at the degree level. Alternatively, a Master’s degree in any subject with Hindi and English as compulsory or elective subjects at the degree level.
Additional Requirement:
Recognized Diploma or Certificate course in translation from Hindi to English & vice versa or two years’ experience of translation work from Hindi to English and vice versa in Central or State Government Office, including Public Sector Undertakings.
SSC Junior Hindi Translator Application Process 2025
Visit the official SSC website at www.ssc.gov.in and navigate to the “Apply” section to apply for SSC JHT 2025. First, you need to do the One Time Registration and then process to form fill up which include multiple stages. At the end of the process, pay the application fee which is Rs. 100 for General/OBC candidates; women and candidates belonging to SC/ST/PwD/Ex-Servicemen categories are exempted from payment of the fee.

How to Apply SSC JHT Application Form?
Candidates can start submitting their SSC JHT Online Forms from 5th June 2025 on the official website of SSC at www.ssc.gov.in. The online application process involves multiple stages and they are discussed in sequence below:
Step 1: New One-Time Registration (OTR) Needed:
If you haven’t registered on the new SSC website, you need to complete the One-Time Registration (OTR) process. Old OTRs from the previous SSC website (ssc.nic.in) will not work. Once you create your new OTR, it will be valid for all future SSC exams on this new website.
Step 2: Live Photo Capture Feature:
You don’t need to upload a photo from your device. The application form will ask you to click your photo live using your computer or mobile camera.
Follow these tips:
- Use good lighting and a plain background.
- Keep the camera at eye level.
- Face the camera directly and look straight.
- Make sure your full face fits inside the red box shown on screen.
- Do not wear caps, masks, or glasses while clicking the photo.
Important Photo Rules: Your appearance in the exam should match the photo on your form. If the photo is unclear, shows you wearing glasses, or is of an old printed photo, your application will be rejected. Make sure your photo follows the instructions. Improper photos will lead to rejection.
Step 3: Signature Upload: Upload your signature in JPG or JPEG format, size 10–20 KB, with dimensions around 6.0 cm (width) x 2.0 cm (height). Blurry or incorrect signatures will also lead to rejection.
Step 4: Final Checks: Before clicking “Submit,” preview the form and double-check all details, especially your photo and signature. Keep a printed or saved copy of the application.
Step 5: Application Fee Payment: Pay online via BHIM UPI, Net Banking, or Debit Cards (Visa, Mastercard, Maestro, RuPay). If your fee is not received by SSC, your application will show as “Incomplete” and will be rejected. You can check your fee payment status on your SSC login dashboard. Once paid, the fee is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to other exams.
SSC JHT Selection Process 2025
The SSC JHT Selection process consists of 4 stages as mentioned below and it is important qualify each based on the criteria given by SSC.
SSC JHT Paper 1: Objective Type
Paper-I will have multiple-choice objective questions only. It mainly includes General Hindi and General English Paper of 100 marks each and total duration is 2 hours. For each wrong answer in Paper-I, 0.25 marks will be deducted. So, answer carefully. There is no option for re-evaluation or re-checking of your answers. Requests for the same will not be entertained.
SSC JHT Paper 2: Descriptive Type
Paper 2 is a descriptive/subjective paper of 200 marks where candidates have to write essays and translate from Hindi to English and English to Hindi. Do not write any personal details like your name, roll number, phone number, or address inside the answer sheet. Those who pass the previous exam stages will have to present at the reported centre with the following documents in original. This is a small list and complete list will be mentioned on the Admit Card of the candidates:
- Two passport-size color photographs
- One original valid Photo ID Proof (like Aadhar, PAN, Voter ID, etc.)
- Class 10 Certificate (for proof of age)
- Educational Qualification Certificates
- Experience/Translation Certificate, if applicable
- Caste/Category Certificate (if you belong to SC/ST/OBC/EWS)
- Disability Certificate (if you’re a PwD candidate)
SSC JHT Final Selection
If the exam is held in multiple shifts, your marks will be adjusted (normalized) using a formula by SSC to ensure fairness. These normalized scores will be used to prepare the final merit list and cut-off marks. The final selection will be based on the combined marks of Paper-I and Paper-II.
Candidates will be assigned to different Ministries, Departments, or Organizations based on their total marks in both papers and the preference of posts/departments they selected during the application process.

SSC JHT 2025 Qualifying Marks
To pass the Computer-Based Exam (Paper-I), candidates must score at least:
- 30% if they are from the Unreserved (UR) category
- 25% for OBC and EWS categories
- 20% for all other categories
Candidates who meet the cut-off in Paper-I will be shortlisted by category to appear for Paper-II (Descriptive Paper).
