Candidates appearing for the SSC CHSL 2025 exam should have a clear understanding of the SSC CHSL Exam Pattern of both stages. SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2025
The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is going to conduct the SSC CHSL 2025 exam in two stages—Tier 1 and Tier 2 in Computer-Based Test (CBT) format. Each stage follows a different exam pattern, so it’s important for candidates to understand the format, structure, and mode of each tier to prepare effectively and perform well. SSC CHSL Tier 1 Exam Pattern 2025
According to the SSC CHSL Exam Pattern 2025, Tier 1 includes a total of 100 questions worth 200 marks. The exam is split into four sections, with 25 questions in each. Candidates will have 60 minutes to complete the paper. If the exam is conducted in multiple shifts, the Staff Selection Commission (SSC) will use a normalization process to ensure fair scoring for all candidates.
The sections asked in the SSC CHSL Tier-I Exam are:
- General Knowledge
- Quantitative Aptitude
- General Reasoning
- English Comprehension

SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern 2025
As per the latest official SSC CHSL Notification 2025, the SSC CHSL Tier 2 Exam Pattern has been updated and is divided into two sessions. Candidates who qualify in the Tier 1 exam will be eligible to appear for Tier 2. In Session I, the exam includes multiple-choice questions (MCQs) covering various subjects, designed to test the candidate’s knowledge and understanding. Session II consists of a Typing Test or Skill Test, aimed at assessing the candidate’s typing speed and accuracy. Understanding the structure of both sessions is essential for effective preparation and success in the exam.

- The questions will be of Objective type in nature in English, Hindi, and any language opted by the candidates.
SSC CHSL Negative Marking
In Tier 1, 0.50 marks are deducted for each wrong answer and in Tier 2, 1 mark for each wrong answer in Section 1, Section,-2 and Module I of Section 3 will be deducted. Therefore, candidates must be careful before selecting any option in the exam.

SSC CHSL Resolution of Tie Cases
In the case of a tie in scores of candidates who appeared in Tier-I and Tier-II examinations, merit will be decided by applying the following criteria, one after another, till the tie is resolved:
- Total marks of the Tier-II Examination.
- Total marks in Tier-I Examination.
- Date of birth, with the elder candidates, placed higher.
- Alphabetical order in which the first names of the candidates appear.
