LIC AAO Selection Process 2026
The selection process for LIC AAO 2026 consists of three main stages:
- Preliminary Examination
- Main Examination
- Interview
Candidates must qualify for each stage to move on to the next. The final selection is based on marks obtained in the Main Examination and Interview, while the Preliminary Exam is only qualifying in nature.

LIC AAO Selection Process is conducted to select candidates for AAO Posts for the Insurance Sector operating in the country. LIC AAO and AE Selection Stage 1: Prelims Exam
The LIC AAO & AE Pattern is similar to other bank exams. For the two-staged online exam, the preliminary exam will be followed by the main exam.
- Online objective test with sections on Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Language.
- The English section is qualifying in nature and marks are not counted for merit.
- This stage is only for shortlisting candidates for the mains exam.

LIC AAO Selection Stage 2: Mains Exam
- Conducted in online mode with both Objective and Descriptive sections.
- For Generalist posts – subjects include Reasoning, Data Analysis & Interpretation, GK/Current Affairs, and Insurance & Financial Awareness.
- For Specialist posts – includes Professional Knowledge relevant to the discipline applied for.
- The descriptive test (Essay & Letter writing in English) is qualifying in nature.

- Marks of English will not be counted for ranking in both phase 1 and phase 2
- Candidate MUST pass in each Section separately and should also obtain minimum marks in the aggregate to qualify for the online examinations (Preliminary and Main) and the interview
LIC AAO Selection Stage 3: Interview
Marks obtained in the Main Examination only will be considered for shortlisting for interview and marks obtained in Main Examination + marks obtained in the Interview will be considered for final merit listing of candidates.
Interview (Phase III):
The interview carries a maximum of 60 marks, with qualifying marks set at 30 for EWS, UR, and OBC candidates, and 27 for SC, ST, and PwBD candidates. Candidates scoring below the qualifying marks will not be considered further. Approximately three times the number of vacancies will be called for the interview, based on their performance in the main examination.
The final merit list will be prepared from the combined marks of the main exam and the interview. In case of a tie, candidates with higher post-graduation qualifications will rank higher, and if still tied, the elder candidate will be placed higher.
Pre-Recruitment Medical Examination:
- After clearing all stages, candidates must undergo a medical test to ensure they are medically fit before the appointment.
