UIIC AO Exam Pattern 2026 Revised
Before starting the UIIC AO Syllabus 2026, candidates should first understand the revised exam pattern. Knowing the pattern will help them plan their preparation effectively. The UIIC AO online examination is conducted based on the format described here.
- The exam will consist of objective-type multiple-choice questions (MCQs).
- Questions will be available in both English and Hindi, except for the English Language section.

UIIC AO Mains Exam Pattern 2026
The UIIC AO 2026 Mains exam pattern varies for the Generalist and Hindi Officer posts. The examination will be conducted online in Computer-Based Test (CBT) mode.
- The Mains exam will have both objective and descriptive sections.
- Candidates can attempt the exam in English or Hindi, except for the English Language section.
- There will be no negative marking for questions left unanswered.
- Candidates will get a total of 150 minutes to complete the exam.

Note: The final merit list will be prepared based on the marks scored in the Main Examination (Tier-II) Objective Test and the Interview. The marks will be given a weightage of 75% and 25%, respectively.
Negative Marking in the UIIC AO Exam
The UIIC AO Exam includes negative marking, where 1/4th or 0.25 marks are deducted for each incorrect answer. This rule applies to the online exam, encouraging candidates to answer questions carefully and avoid unnecessary guesses to maximise their scores.
UIIC AO Descriptive Test
Candidates who qualify for the online exam will be called for the Descriptive Test. It will test their English language skills through Letter Writing (10 marks) and Essay Writing (20 marks). The test will be of 30 marks and candidates will get 30 minutes to complete it. The test will be conducted in English and will be qualifying in nature. The marks scored in this test will not be counted for the interview or final selection.
UIIC AO Interview 2026
The final stage of the Administrative Officer recruitment process is the UIIC AO Interview 2026. Candidates who qualify for the online exam and descriptive test will be called for the interview, with the final merit list based on their combined written exam and interview scores.
