No Written Exam for India Post GDS Recruitment 2026

India Post GDS Joining Process 2026
Once the GDS Merit List 2026 is published, shortlisted applicants will be contacted by the respective Engaging Authority, either the Divisional Head or Unit Head of the concerned division/unit, for verification of their original documents. After successful completion of the document verification process, a system-generated provisional engagement letter will be issued to the candidate immediately.
Candidates must then complete all pre-engagement formalities within 30 days of receiving the offer. Once all verification reports are received and found satisfactory, the final engagement order will be issued, officially confirming the candidate’s appointment as a Gramin Dak Sevak (GDS).

Candidates must fulfil the prescribed eligibility requirements, including educational qualification, age limit, and local language proficiency, as mentioned in the official notification.
Educational Qualification
- Must have passed Class 10 from a recognised board.
- Mathematics and English should be studied as compulsory/elective subjects.
- Must have studied the local language up to Class 10 and be able to read, write, and speak it.
- Basic computer knowledge is required.
- The ability to ride a bicycle is mandatory (unless exempted by a competent authority).
- Candidates should have adequate means of livelihood
