The Prime Minister, Shri Narendra Modi paid tributes at the National War Memorial on Republic Day 2023. National War Memorial is a fitting tribute to Indian Arm Force Personnel gave ultimate sacrifice in the service of the Country.
The National War Memorial commemorates the soldiers who made supreme sacrifice during the Counter Insurgency Operations and Peace Keeping Missions of Indian Forces. Over the years, thousands of the Indian Armed Forces have laid down their lives to defend the country’s sovereignty and integrity. National War Memorial is a way to pay tribute to them and remember their sacrifice.
The Halwa ceremony was recently concluded in North Block, in the presence of Union Finance & Corporate Affairs Minister Smt. Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Ministers of State for Finance Shri Pankaj Chaudhary and Dr. Bhagwat Kisanrao Karad.
Halwa Ceremony of Union Budget marks the final stage of the Budget preparation process for Union Budget 2023-24.
Halwa Ceremony is a customary ceremony performed every year before the “lock-in” process of Budget preparation begins. As part of the ceremony, the Finance Minister also took a tour of the Budget Press and reviewed the preparations besides extending her best wishes to the officials concerned.
Union Budget 2023-24 will also be delivered in paperless form like the previous two Union Budgets. The Union Budget 2023-24 is to be presented on 1st February, 2023.
There will be 14 Union Budget documents, including the Annual Financial Statement (commonly known as Budget), Demand for Grants (DG), Finance Bill etc. as prescribed by the Constitution.
These documents will available on the “Union Budget Mobile App” for hassle-free access of Budget documents by Members of Parliament (MPs) and the general public using the simplest form of digital convenience.
Union Budget Mobile App is bilingual (English & Hindi) and will be available on both Android and iOS platforms. The Union Budget Mobile App can also be downloaded from the Union Budget Web Portal (www.indiabudget.gov.in).
The Union Budget 2023-24 documents will be available on the Mobile App after the completion of the Budget Speech by the Finance Minister in Parliament on 1st February, 2023.
Recently, a high-Level Indian Delegation led by Additional Secretary, Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare has arrived in Abuja, Nigeria for taking South-South Collaboration and Cooperation on Millets to next higher stage. This millet-specific visit comes in the wake of India kick starting the International Year of Millets (IYM) 2023 on the very first day of this year.

Nigeria could become a Model of South-South Cooperation on Millets along with other Indian Important Partners like Egypt, South Africa, Algeria, Morocco, Ethiopia, Kenya, Angola, Ghana and Sudan to address the “lack of food security”. Lack of food security remains one of the most formidable challenges facing the African continent.
International Year of Millets 2023 was proposed by the Government of India to the United Nations, which is to be celebrated across the world. The Food and Agriculture Organisation (FAO) approved India’s proposal in 2018 and the United Nations General Assembly has declared the year 2023 as the International Year of Millets.
The International Year of Millets 2023 was adopted by a United Nations Resolution for which India took the lead and was supported by over 70 nations.
