UPSC APFC Recruitment: UPSC APFC cutoff [Previous year analysis]

UPSC APFC Recruitment

UPSC APFC Notification 2021: An RTI was filed on 30 August 2021 about the vacancies for APFC (Direct Recruitment). In the reply, UPSC said that, as on 31 December 2020, there are 151 vacancies for APFC. Though the vacancies not necessarily mean that the UPSC APFC notification would definitely come. It indeed means that the notification may arrive. The UPSC APFC is a prestigious job and demands a unique set of qualities that could be important to carry out its various responsibilities. So far, UPSC has conducted APFC exam in 2002, 2004, 2012 and 2016. In this article, we will discuss the APFC cutoff 2012 and APFC cutoff 2016 to help you strategise your preparation.

APFC 2012 cutoff

Category UR OBC SC ST PH(Ortho) PH(Hearing)
Cutoffs for written test (out of 100) 66 64 60 58 59 44
Minimum qualifying marks in personality test 50% 45% 40% 40%
Marks scored by last candidate in the given category (out of 200) 133 126 120 119 127 97
Total No. of candidates appeared in the exam 69002 40821 14301 4169 1376 157

As you can see, in 2012 the APFC cutoff was 66 out of 100 for the general category that means the cutoff even when the sources were limited, rose to more than 50%. APFC cutoff is slightly higher due to the lesser number of vacancies as compared to any other recruitment examination conducted by UPSC.

APFC cutoff 2016

Category UR OBC SC ST PH (OH) PH (HH)
Objective Test 66.5 60.5 56.5 54.5 51.5 44.5
Interview 50 45 40 40
Final Selection 268.37 249.86 234.74 229.30 221.94 201.54

In the last held APFC recruitment exam 2016, the cutoff again was 66 that means despite of more candidates appearing and increase in the diversity of sources, the cutoff remained similar. It happened largely because of the level of questions asked in the APFC recruitment exam.

UPSC has not conducted APFC recruitment exam after 2015. In all likelihood, UPSC is going to release the APFC Recruitment Notification 2021 soon and the candidates must not be complacent at this point of time.
