The CSIR ASO selection process will be based on the Computer Proficiency Test (CPT). It is qualifying in nature, and a test is conducted to assess a candidate’s basic computer skills required for routine office work. The CPT carries 100 marks and is conducted for a duration of 1 hour.

Minimum Qualifying Marks

Candidates must secure the prescribed minimum qualifying marks in the Computer Proficiency Test (CPT) to qualify for this stage of the selection process. The minimum qualifying marks vary by category, with the highest requirement being 40% for UR candidates and 30% for PwBD candidates.

CSIR ASO Tie-Breaking Criteria

When two or more candidates obtain the same score in the CSIR ASO recruitment, their merit will be decided by applying the following tie-breaking rules in sequence:

• Older Candidate: If the scores remain tied, preference will be given to the candidate who is older in age.
• Higher Mains Score: The candidate with higher marks in the UPSC Civil Services (Main) Examination 2024 will be ranked higher.
• Earlier Degree Completion: If the tie still persists, the candidate who completed the essential educational qualification earlier will receive a higher rank.
• Alphabetical Order of First Name: If all the above criteria fail to break the tie, the merit will be determined based on the alphabetical order of the candidates’ first names.
