How to Apply Online For UPSC Geo-Scientist 2024?

UPSC Geo-Scientist 2024: To register for UPSC Geo-Scientist 2024, you can follow the steps outlined below.

Step 1. First visit the official website of UPSC – upsconline. nic.in/
Step 2. Click on the “Online Application for Various Examinations of UPSC”.
Step 3. From the application list “click on Part I” Combined Geo-Scientist Pre Examination.
Step 4. Click on the new registration and complete the registration process by filling in all the necessary details.
Step 5. Select the center of the exam.
Step 6. Then, Log in using your registration no. and click on Apply now.
Step 7. Complete your application form and proceed with the document upload such as scanned images and photographs in the application form.
Step 8. Upload all the required documents and submit them.
Step 9. After that, the candidate can do the application fee payment process and pay the application fees online through any provided options.
Step 10. After the successful fee payment and submission of the form, take a printout of the application form and fee payment receipt for future reference.

Candidates applying for the UPSC Geo-Scientist Combined Exam 2023 need to fulfill the eligibility criteria mentioned in the official notification. These age criteria are determined based on the eligibility criteria outlined below.

UPSC Geo-Scientist Age Limit

  • If you’re applying for the positions of Geologist, Geophysicist, or Chemist in the Ministry of Mines, please note that the minimum age requirement is 21 years, and the maximum age allowed is 32 years.
  • For those interested in the Junior Hydrogeologist (Scientist B) position in the central Ministry of Water Resources, the minimum age requirement is 21 years, and the maximum age allowed is 35 year

  • Geophysicist Group ‘A’ in GSI
    Candidate must have an M.Sc. or M. Tech. degree from the below-mentioned subjects: Applied Geophysics, Marine Geophysics, Physics, Applied Geophysics, Geophysics, Applied Physics, Integrated M.Sc. degree in Exploration Geophysics
  • Chemist Group ‘A’ in GSI
    Aspirants must have an M.Sc. degree in Applied Chemistry or Chemistry or else Analytical Chemistry.
  • Junior Hydrogeologist (Scientist B) Group ‘A’
    Aspirants must hold a Master’s degree in Geology/ Marine Geology/ Applied Geology or a Master’s in Hydrogeology.

UPSC Geo-Scientist Selection Process

There are three stages in the UPSC Geo-Scientist Recruitment Selection process:

  • Stage I: Computer-Based Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination (Objective type) having two papers for selection of the candidates for the Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination. Marks secured in the Preliminary Examination will be counted for deciding the final merit;
  • Stage II: Combined Geo-Scientist (Main) Examination (Descriptive Type) having three papers for the selection of candidates for the Personality Test (Stage III). Marks secured in the Main Examination will be counted for deciding the final merit; and
  • Stage-III: Personality Test/Interview

Note that the Objective Type Exam will have a one-third negative marking for each wrong answer
