Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan responded to Tamil Nadu’s higher education minister on Sunday, saying that the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) was created in compliance with the National Education Policy 2020.

“As you are aware, the National Education Policy 2020 has been approved and released following a lengthy and highly participatory consultation process with numerous stakeholders,” the union education minister said in a letter.

“The National Policy on Education of 1968 and the National Policy on Education of 1986/1992 served as guiding papers for the Central Government’s education policy. He went on to say that National Education Policy 2020 “may be considered as a continuation of prior education strategies.”

CUET 2022- In Observation of NEP 2020, A CUET has been Introduced

Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan elaborated on the CUET’s implementation, saying, “Instead of the summative evaluation that today’s coaching culture supports, NEP, 2020 stresses regular formative assessment for learning.”

“As a result, in accordance with the National Education Policy, 2020,” the letter said, “the Common University Entrance Test (CUET) has been introduced.”

“Students may apply to many universities of their choosing using a single application form, saving costs and improving access.” “Further, he stated.

Students can take the entrance exam in any of the 13 languages, and they can select from hundreds of testing centres around the country, according to the Union Education Minister.

CUET 2022- For Socio-Economically Disabandoned People

“Because there is substantial diversity in the marking pattern of different state boards,” said Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, “CUET provides for admittance only on the CUET marks.” These tests will assess conceptual comprehension and the capacity to apply information, with the goal of obviating the need for coaching.”

“Further, the syllabus for the undergraduate level entrance examination is based on the understanding of the subject at the Class 12 level, irrespective of affiliations to any board like CBSE, thus benefiting the Socio-Economically Disadvantaged Groups (SEDGs),” he said when asked how CUET will help disadvantaged groups.

CUET 2022- To Make Education Accessible for All

Dharmendra Pradhan, speaking on how CUET will make education accessible to everybody, said, “CUET will solve the issue of educational access by holding a single entrance examination in several languages. This will alleviate the financial and emotional strain.”

“Furthermore, CUET will level the playing field for students from rural and distant locations, as well as those from SEDGs.” Furthermore, the notion of the Common Entrance Examination, as envisioned in the NEP 2020, is in line with the provisions of the 1992 Programme of Action on National Policy on Education (NPE), 1986 “Added he.

CUET 2022- The Role of Both The Center and The State in Education is Acknowledged in Education Policy

The letter to Tamil Nadu’s education minister went on to say that national education policies produced from time to time have always recognised the role of both the federal and state governments in India’s education sector.

“The NPE, 1968, which came before the 42nd Constitution Amendment Act, talks about states and the centre working together. “The role and obligation of States and UTS are clearly recognised in para 3.13 of NPE 1986, which was released after the 42nd Amendment Act,” said Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan in his letter.

“In a similar vein to the previous Policies NEP, 2020, in paragraphs 26 and 27, emphasises the responsibility of both the federal and state governments. As a result, there is no justification for intruding on the rights of the states/UTs,” it continued.

“Since the 42nd Amendment Act made education a topic of the concurrent list, the central government has been authorised to adopt measures for the development, promotion, and expansion of education in the country,” the letter said.
