Singapore International Water Week (SIWW) 2022

  • Location: Singapore International Water Week 2022 is being organized as a physical event from 17 to 21 April at the Sands Expo & Convention Centre, Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
  • SIWW 2022 will cover all aspects of the urban water cycle reflective of current trends and issues in and around the water sector.
  • Critical to shaping the future of water, emerging themes such as digital water, resource recovery and climate resilience will continue to be featured at SIWW 2022.
  • SIWW 2022 Theme: SIWW2022 Water Convention will address current and emerging water challenges under the following themes-
    • Theme 1: Delivering Water from Source to Tap (Network)
    • Theme 2: Delivering Water from Source to Tap (Treatment)
    • Theme 3: Effective and Efficient Wastewater Management

Water Conservation Measures in India

  • Jal Shakti Ministry: Union government formed Jal Shakti Ministry in 2019 to aim toward proving directed conservation measures.
  • ‘Catch the Rain: Where it Falls, When it Falls’ campaign: It was launched under Jal Shakti Abhiyan and received immense success.
  • Arth Ganga scheme: its six verticals-
    • Zero Budget Natural Farming,
    • Livelihood Generation Opportunities,
    • Cultural Heritage & Tourism,
    • Monetisation and Reuse of Sludge & Wastewater,
    • Public Participation and
    • Institutional Building.
  • Second Phase of Namami Gange Program: It will focus on sewerage infrastructure creation in the tributaries of Ganga such as Yamuna and scaling up of PPP development efforts.
  • National Mission for Clean Ganga: NMCG aims to develop a circular economy model focused on reclaim, reuse, and recycling.
    • One of the key areas of work in the future will be fecal sludge and septage management in urban local bodies and rural areas.
