Energy Transitions Working Group G20: It is a grouping that focuses on achieving energy transition in the world. Energy Transitions Working Group 2023 is being held under India’s G20 Presidency. Energy Transitions Working Group Meet G20 is also Important for UPSC Prelims 2023 and UPSC Mains Exam ( GS Paper 2- Various International Groupings and International Relations).
The second meeting of the Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) during India’s G20 Presidency came to a successful conclusion on April 3, 2023 in Gandhinagar.
During 2nd ETWG Meet 2023, member countries engaged in constructive discussions and deliberations focusing on key priority areas, outlined under India’s Presidency.
During the discussions, member countries expressed significant support for the formation of the Global Biofuels Alliance.
The First G20 Energy Transitions Working Group Meeting was held in Bengaluru on February 5-7, 2023.
G20 ETWG will conduct four (4) working group meetings to set the agenda and identify action areas for the planned G20 Energy Transition Ministerial Meeting (ETMM).
Energy Transitions Working Group while retaining focus on achieving energy transition, will emphasize on addressing technology gaps and financing to ensure that it is delivered across countries in a time-bound and affordable manner without compromising the energy needs of the communities.
The priority areas for the Energy Transitions Working Group (ETWG) include the following:
