Alternatively, degrees from educational institutions recognized as universities under Section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act 1956 are also accepted.
Upon selection, appointed candidates will undergo a probationary period lasting for three years.

Only candidates who secure the minimum qualifying marks in the prelims exam will proceed to the CGPSC mains exam. The prelims exam serves as a screening test to identify candidates eligible for the main examination. The marks obtained in the prelims will not play a role in the final selection process. Qualifying candidates from the mains examination, based on the cut-off scores set by the Board for each category, will be called for the interview round. The final merit list will be determined by the candidate’s performance in the mains exam and the interview.
The preliminary exam consists of two papers, namely General Studies and Aptitude Test. The marking scheme for CGPSC Prelims can be referred to in the table provided below.

The main examination question paper follows a conventional format, involving short, medium, and long answer types. The CGPSC main examination comprises seven papers, each carrying 200 marks, and is followed by an interview round of 150 marks.
