Key Points About Percentage Calculation

RBI has also clarified how percentage marks will be calculated under the RBI Assistant Eligibility Criteria 2026:

  • The percentage is calculated from all semesters/years combined
  • 49.99% is treated as less than 50%
  • If CGPA/OGPA is given, RBI converts it to a percentage using its own conversion table
  • If CGPA is out of any scale other than 10, it is first normalized to 10

Some universities give CGPA/OGPA/CPI instead of a percentage. If your university provides a formula to convert CGPA into a percentage, RBI will use that. If no conversion formula is given, RBI will calculate the percentage using its own fixed conversion table, provided below:

Equivalent CGPA/OGPA/CPI(on 10-point scale) Aggregate Percentage of Marks
6.75 60%
6.25 55%
5.75 50%

  • Know the local language of the state or UT they are applying for
  • Be able to read, write, speak, and understand the language

If a candidate has studied the local language in Class 10 or 12, they can be exempted from the test if they can provide valid documents or a certificate for the same. This is a crucial part of the RBI Assistant Eligibility Criteria 2026.
