UPSC Prelims Exam Analysis 2022 Subject Wise
UPSC CSE prelims exam analysis 2022: UPSC CSE Prelims 2022 was conducted today. The UPSC CSE Prelims examination was conducted in two shifts. In the first shift, the UPSC Prelims’ first paper (GS 1) was conducted between 9:30 to 11:30 AM. In the second shift, the second Paper (CSAT) of UPSC CSE Prelims 2021 will be conducted today between 2:30 to 4:30. Here we are with the UPSC prelims 2022 question paper analysis subject wise.
The questions were again on the tougher side. Hence, expectation is that UPSC Prelims 2022 Expected Cutoff would remain low. Here, we would like to tell you that the cut-off of the UPSC Prelims 2021 is prepared based on the marks fetched by the aspirants in GS Paper 1. In the GS paper 2 (CSAT), candidates have to only secure minimum qualifying marks that are 1/3rd of the total (66.67 marks).

UPSC Prelims 2022 Polity Analysis: The questions from this section were easy to moderate. If your concepts are clear, you would find many easy questions like deputy speaker, constitutional amendment bill anti-defection law etc. However, the paper also consisted of some moderate but doable questions like the questions on advocates, contempt of court etc. Interestingly, this year the question from this section has reduced significantly as compared to last few years.
UPSC CSE prelims 2022 exam analysis: Environment
UPSC Prelims 2022 Environment Analysis: The questions from this section were moderate to difficult. This year UPSC has asked a lot of climate organisations like Climate Action Tracker, Climate Group and EP100. Questions were also asked form agriculture section like System of Rice Intensification and particulate matter. Unlike previous years, the questions from this section were less debatable and more direct.
UPSC civil services 2022 exam analysis: Geography
UPSC Prelims 2022 Geography Analysis: Overall, the questions from this section were moderate. While some questions were doable, others were not doable. Questions were direct so, many questions from this section were from the ‘either you know or you don’t’ category. Moreover, a new form of options emerged this year that asked the aspirants to mark the current pairs. Questions from lakes, peaks Canyon were asked that are more of rote learning nature. International geographical questions too were from more than one year current affairs.

UPSC Prelims 2022 History Analysis: The questions from this section were moderate to difficult. The questions from modern history were less and were on a difficult side. This year, the focus on medieval part of energy got more focus and the questions from art and culture were on the tougher side.
UPSC prelims paper analysis 2022: Science and Technology
UPSC Prelims 2022 Science & Technology Analysis: The new found affection of UPSC with the technologies could be again seen from this year topic. The questions from this section were difficult. This year also witnessed the questions about new and emerging technologies. Questions were asked from topics like Saas, qubit, Web 3.0 etc. Aspirants are not expected to read about every technological advancement and that too in this much depth. Attempting these questions needed a good elimination technique. Those who possess it would have done well.
UPSC Prelims 2022 Analysis: Economy
UPSC Prelims 2022 Economy Analysis: The questions from this section were slightly difficult than last year. This year, around 20 questions were asked from this section and most of them were conceptual in nature. Questions on NEER, REER, Inflation Indexed bonds, debt financing etc were a tough nut to crack this year.

UPSC Prelims 2022 Current Affairs Analysis: After 2016, the weightage of current affairs was consistently decreasing, however, this year the questions from this section saw an upward trend. Much of the questions from this section were from technology section and geographical location section.
UPSC Prelims 2022 Analysis: Conclusion
The question paper was moderate to difficult. There were many new questions, however, it does not mean the aspirants should start reading everything. For example: Just because UPSC has asked many location specific questions, you should not start preparing every location in world map. Last year, we had warned you to not cover sports news just because UPSC has asked it. And see, there were no such questions this year. This element of surprise will always be there in the paper, you just have to target the easy and doable questions.
