Recently, the 24th National Youth Parliament Competition for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas held its Prize Distribution Function at the Parliament House Complex in New Delhi.

National Youth Parliament Competition 2022-23 Winner

The Union Minister of State for Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs and Culture Shri Arjun Ram Meghwal presided over the function.

  • He distributed the prizes to 24th National Parliament Competition winning students and Vidyalayas for their meritorious performance in the Competition.
  • The students of Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Nadia, West Bengal (Patna Region) stood first in the 24th National Youth Parliament Competition, 2022-23 for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas.
  • The Running Parliamentary Shield and Trophy for standing first in the Competition will be awarded to Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, Nadia, West Bengal (Patna Region).
  • Besides, merit trophies will also be awarded by the Hon’ble Minister to the 7 Vidyalayas for standing first in their region.

Youth Parliament Competition Details

For 26 years, the Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs has been conducting Youth Parliament Competitions in Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas. The 24th edition of the National Youth Parliament Competition for Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalayas took place during 2022-23, involving 80 Vidyalayas across 8 regions of Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti throughout India as part of the program.

Important significance of Youth Parliament Competition Scheme for young generation of India are discussed below-

  • The Youth Parliament Scheme aims at inculcating among the younger generations
    • Spirit of self-discipline,
    • Tolerance of diverse opinion,

Recently, the National Conference on Agriculture for Kharif Campaign 2023-24 was inaugurated at NASC Complex in New Delhi by Shri Narendra Singh Tomar, the Union Agriculture Minister.

  • During his address at the conference, he emphasized that agriculture continues to be the backbone of the Indian economy and is critical for the country’s socio-economic development.
  • Agriculture sector contributes approximately 19% to the GDP and provides livelihoods to around two-thirds of the Indian population.

National Conference on Agriculture for Kharif Campaign 2023

The National Conference was attended by senior officials from DA&FW, ICAR, as well as officers from various State Governments, including the Additional Secretary (Agriculture). An interaction session with Agriculture Production Commissioners and Principal Secretaries from all states was held afterward, allowing them to discuss concerns related to increasing area coverage, production, and productivity during the upcoming Kharif season in 2023.

National Conference on Agriculture 2023 Objectives

The priority of government is agro-ecological based crop planning for diversion of land from excess commodities like rice and wheat to deficit commodities like oilseeds and pulses and high value export earning crops. The objective of this conference was to-

  • Review and assess the crop performance during the preceding crop seasons and fix crop-wise targets for Kharif season in consultation with State Governments,
  • Ensure supply of critical inputs and
  • Facilitate adoption of innovative technologies with a view to enhance production and productivity of the crops.
