UPSC CMS Age Limit

UPSC CMS Eligibility Criteria defines the upper age limit as 32 years of age at the time of application. Candidates are required to ensure about fulfilling this age criteria. Category from unreserved category can apply 6 times for the UPSC CMS examination while an OBC candidate can apply 7 times and an SC/ST candidate can apply unlimited times (up to 37 years of age), respectively, for the CMS examination.

UPSC CMS Educational Qualification

As per the official notification, the UPSC CMS Educational Qualification demands a candidate to have a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree from a recognized university. Candidates check the latest CMS Educational Qualification from this section.

  • The candidate must have cleared both the written and practical parts of the MBBS final year examination.
  • If the candidate is undergoing the compulsory rotating internship and has not completed it yet, they will be recruited only after completing the internship.
  • Candidates who have appeared or will appear in the final MBBS examination are also eligible. However, they must provide proof of passing and internship completion at the time of document verification to be recruited.

UPSC CMS Nationality

The Nationality for the CMS Exam has been clearly defined in the official notification by the commission. UPSC CMS Eligibility Criteria states that a candidate must be either:
(a) a Citizen of India
(b) a subject of Nepal
(c) a subject of Bhutan
(d) a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st of January, 1962 to permanently settle in India. or
(e) a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka or the East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire and Ethiopia or Vietnam to permanently settle in India.

  • Provided that a candidate belonging to categories (b), (c), (d) and (e) above shall be a person in whose favour a certificate of eligibility has been issued by the Government of India.
  • A candidate in whose case a certificate of eligibility is necessary may be admitted to the examination but the offer of appointment may be given only after the necessary eligibility certificate has been issued to him by the Government of India.
