National SC ST Hub Scheme, Providing Professional Support to SC-ST Entrepreneurs

National SC ST Hub: National SC ST Hub scheme is a government initiative to provide financial assistance, capacity building, and market linkage opportunities to these enterprises. National SC ST Hub is also important for UPSC Prelims Exam 2023 and UPSC Mains Exam (GS Paper 2- Various Government Schemes and Initiatives to welfare of various vulnerable sections of the population.

Recently, in response to Union Minister Shri Narayan Rane’s tweet, the Prime Minister commended the National SC-ST Hub Scheme for surpassing over 100,000 beneficiary registrations. He further stated that by reinforcing the MSME sector, we are essentially reinforcing every stratum of the community.

National SC ST Hub initiative is a government scheme to provide professional support to SC-ST entrepreneurs and thus promote inclusive growth.

  • Parent Ministry: National SC ST Hub is being implemented by the Union Ministry of Micro, Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME).
  • Key Mandate: The National SC ST Hub supports entrepreneurs of the SC and ST communities in capacity building, market linkages, finance facilitation and tender bid participation.
  • Beneficiaries: National SC ST Hub initiative is applicable for Existing and Aspiring SC/ST Entrepreneurs.
  • Significance: National SC ST Hub and various schemes under MSME Ministry aims to realize the dream of an Aatmnirbhar Bharat.

National SC ST Hub Scheme Objectives

The National SC-ST Hub (NSSH) has been set up to-

  • Provide professional support to Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe Entrepreneurs to fulfil the obligations under the Central Government Public Procurement Policy for Micro and Small Enterprises Order 2012,
    • To achieve 4% Public Procurement target from SC-ST entrepreneurs
  • Facilitate SC/ST Entrepreneurs to be part of vendor development programs and mentoring support
  • Collection, collation and dissemination of information regarding SC/ST enterprises and entrepreneurs
  • Ensure Distribution of trade specific tool kits to trained candidates
  • Adopt applicable business practices and
  • Leverage the Stand-Up India initiative
