Recently, Lok Sabha Speaker, Shri Om Birla addressed the valedictory function of the 4th edition of National Youth Parliament Festival (NYPF) in the Central Hall of Parliament, New Delhi.

The 4th edition of National Youth Parliament Festival, 2023 was launched with the theme “Ideas for a Better tomorrow: India for the World”.

  • District Youth Parliaments were conducted from 25th to 29th January 2023. More than 2.01 Lakh youth from 748 Districts of all States and UTs participated at 150 venues across the country.
  • The 1st and 2nd position holder of District Youth Parliament (DYP) participated from 3rd to 7th February, 2023 at State Youth Parliament Festival.

The Conference of Food Ministers of all States/UTs was recently addressed by the Union Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

Union Minister said that there is a need for all the States/UTs to make earnest efforts to implement SMART-PDS at the earliest.

  • SMART-PDS is a technological driven initiative for ensuring leak-proof and time distribution of various goods and services by the government.
  • He emphasised on a transparent and accountable system urging to reduce human intervention and promote automation in the existing processes.
    • Transparency should be of utmost importance for free supply chain of foodgrains under Public Distribution System.
  • Food Ministers of States, officers of States/UTs and officers of Department of Food and Public Distribution (DFPD) participated in the conference of Food Ministers of all States/UTs.

Recently, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare (MoHFW), Government of India received the Porter Prize 2023. This is a significant achievement towards recognizing India’s efforts in health sector and especially COVID management.

The Porter prize was announced at “The India Dialog” organized by Institute for Competitiveness (IFC) and US Asia Technology Management Center (USATMC) at Stanford University.

  • The prize recognizes the strategy followed by the Government of India in managing COVID-19, the approach, and involvement of various stakeholders especially involvement of ASHA workers in the industry to create PPE Kits.
  • It was  also noted that the idea of vaccine development and vaccine manufacturing and the scale that India achieved, was tremendous.
    • India has delivered more than 2.5 billion doses today, which has just been amazing.
    • The ministry took all the necessary steps to combat the Covid situation in the country.
