Vigilance Awareness Week 2022: Why in News?

  • Recently, the Ministry of Women and Child Development organized various activities under Vigilance Awareness Week 2022 from 31st October to 06th November, 2022.

  • The Ministry of Women and Child Development has been in the forefront of actively working towards prevention of corruption.
  • In the move towards inculcating the true spirit of preventive vigilance and to encourage transparency of all records and all work, the Ministry has implemented 100% use of e-Office.
    • Also, all the procurement done by the Ministry is through GeM Portal.
  • Mains Themes: Vigilance Awareness Week 2022 is being organized on the themes-
    • “Bhrashtachar Mukt Bharat – Viksit Bharat”,
    • “Corruption Free India for a Developed Nation”.

Vigilance Awareness Week 2022- Key Activities

The Ministry  carried out the following activities during the week:-

  • The Week commenced with the Online Integrity Pledge, taken by all employees of the Ministry on 31.10.2022.
  • Banners were displayed at different places in Ministry’s premises in ShastriBhawan as well as in JeevanVihar and Jeevan Tara Buildings.
  • Instructions issued by CVC were forwarded to all associated organizations of the Ministry requesting them to organisedifferent outreach and awareness programmes during the week.
  • A circular regarding Do’s and Don’ts to be practiced in the office (in accordance to the conduct rules) was circulated amongst all the sections of the Ministry.
  • Essay writing and poster making competitions were organised on 02.11.2022.

India Pavilion inaugurated at COP 27

 

India Pavilion at UNFCCC COP 27: Why in News?

  • Recently, the Union Minister of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Shri Bhupender Yadav, inaugurated India Pavilion at the 27th Session of Conference of Parties of the UNFCCC (COP 27) Sharm El-Sheikh, Egypt.
    • UNFCCC COP 27 is scheduled from 6-18 November, 2022.
  • India believes that climate action starts from the grassroots, individual level and hence designed the India Pavilion with the theme of LiFE- Lifestyle for Environment.

LiFE @ India Pavilion at COP 27

  • India is hosting a pavilion with the theme of LiFE- Lifestyle for Environment at COP 27.
    • The Pavilion has been designed to send out the message of LiFE through various audio-visuals, Logo, 3D models, set up, décor and side events.
  • The guiding thought in the design of the pavilion is that for centuries, Indian civilizations have practised and led sustainable lifestyles.
    • Eco-friendly habits are encoded in the Indian culture. Several practices are rooted in the daily life showing respect for the natural environment.
    • They can prove to be invaluable in our fight against climate change.
  • This deep-seated knowledge on sustainability passed through generations over a thousand years has led the Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi into giving the World a Mantra of LiFE – that aim to have a substantial impact on the health and wellbeing of the planet.
    • LiFE movement is India’s contribution to handling global climate crisis.
    • The LiFE movement seeks to transform persons into ‘pro-planet people’, who would adopt sustainable lifestyles in the modern world.

 

India Pavilion Logo at UNFCCC COP 27

  • In respect of the Pavilion logo, the color green which is indicative of Green Earth has been used in gradient shades in the logo.
  • The leaf on the periphery represents nature and icons represent how balance and harmony with nature can be achieved through various initiatives of the Government of India.
  • The central part of the logo represents a balanced nature with the Sun encompassing trees, mountains, water and biodiversity.
  • The slogan has been inspired from the core messaging of Life “सर्वे भवन्तु सुखिना” (May everyone be happy).

Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas 2022: Why in news?

  • Ministry of Education under the leadership of Union Education and Skill Development & Entrepreneurship Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan will be celebrating ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Diwas’ in a grand manner in the schools, skill and higher educational institutions across the country.

  • To commemorate the contribution of the tribal freedom fighters,  the Ministry of Education in association with the AICTE, UGC, Central Universities, Private Universities, other HEIs, CBSE, KVS, NVS and Skilling institutions is celebrating ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas’.
  • The nationwide celebrations of Janjatiya Gaurav Divas will witness a large number of programmes such as debate competition on the theme ‘Contribution of Janjati Heroes in freedom struggle’, social activities, etc. in the educational institutions across the country.
  • The contributions of brave tribal leaders like Bhagwan Birsa Munda and others will be highlighted during these celebrations. The students will also be felicitated for the good work.

Janjatiya Gaurav Divas- Celebrating Tribal Contribution in Freedom Struggle

  • India’s freedom struggle was strengthened by several movements by tribal communities such as Santhals, Tamars, Kols, Bhils, Khasis and Mizos to name a few.
  • The revolutionary movements and struggles organized by the tribal communities were marked by their immense courage and supreme sacrifice.
  • Tribal movements in different regions of the country against the British colonial rule got linked with the national freedom struggle and inspired Indians all over the country.

Janjatiya Gaurav Divas- Key Significance

  • The declaration acknowledges the glorious history and cultural heritage of tribal communities.
  • The day will be celebrated every year and would recognize the efforts of the tribals for the preservation of cultural heritage and promotion of Indian values of valour, hospitality and national pride.
  • Tribal Freedom Fighter Museum at Ranchi where Birsa Munda breathed his last will be inaugurated.
