UPPSC Prelims Exam Pattern 2024

UPPSC Prelims Exam pattern is the first phase of the UPPSC Exam 2024. Serving primarily as a qualifying stage, it aims to screen out candidates not seriously pursuing the selection.   • Paper I determines the exam cutoff.
  • Paper II is qualifying, with a requirement of 33% marks.
  • A negative marking of 0.33% applies to every incorrect answer.
  • For instance, an incorrect answer on a 2-mark question will deduct 0.66 marks.
  • Marking multiple answers for one question on the OMR sheet counts as incorrect and incurs negative markings.
  • No negative marking for questions left blank.

UPPSC Mains Exam Pattern 2024

Candidates who successfully clear the PCS preliminary examinations are invited to participate in the mains examination. Below is an overview of the UPPSC Mains Exam Pattern 2024. It is important to note that the scores obtained in the mains exam are crucial for the final selection process. The mains examination consists of eight descriptive papers, making it a pivotal phase in the selection as it carries a significant weight of 1500 marks, thereby playing a major role in determining the merit. Significant revisions have been made to the pattern of the UPPSC main exam:

  1. The commission has eliminated objective-type questions, reverting to the descriptive-type questions format that was used previously, albeit with an increased number of papers.
  2. Additionally, an ‘Ethics’ paper has been introduced to the mains exam, which was not part of the exam structure in the past.
