The International Conference on Chemicals and Petrochemicals is an effort to promote sustainable development in chemical and petrochemical sector and to deliberate upon sustainable solutions of various issues being faced by the industry. The conference was specifically centered around the Chemicals and Petrochemical sector and aimed to bring together the global business community.

Organizers: In collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), the Department of Chemicals and Petrochemicals hosted a B20 conference on Chemicals and Petrochemicals in New Delhi.
Mandate: The aim of the Conference is to improve the safety and sustainable ecosystem for chemicals and petrochemicals industry across the four pillars of De-carbonization, Circular Economy, Biodiversity and Water Conservation.
Participation: The International Conference on Chemicals and Petrochemicals saw participation of over 500 delegates from India and overseas, representing various industries, associations, and federations from B20 nations.
- Additionally, government representatives also attended International Conference on Chemicals and Petrochemicals.
- Industry delegates from countries such as Germany, Mexico, Russia, Hungary, the United States of America, Belgium, Singapore, the United Arab Emirates, and South Korea participated in the conference.
Significance: The International Conference on Chemicals and Petrochemicals will facilitate in identifying potential opportunities, exchange of knowledge amongst G20 countries on sustainability and circularity.

As part of India’s G20 presidency, the Department of Chemicals & Petrochemicals, in collaboration with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), is hosting a B20 engagement event titled “International Conference on Chemicals and Petrochemicals: Sustainable Transitions through Greentech & Digitalization.”

The Business20 (B20) serves as the official G20 dialogue forum that facilitates discussions between the global business community, policymakers, and civil society.
The objective of the B20 is to provide actionable policy recommendations on key priorities to promote economic growth and development.
